link to facebook

I use the "Link to Facebook" option, just so that my contacts can have a picture, birthday notification, etc... But I don't really use the Contact Updates that come up. I always just clear those out... Recently started using the Facebook App, and it seems to have improved from what it used to be.

Birthday notifications and contact images are a fantastic benefit of synching with your contacts. However, if you try to use it to update your status, tag images, comment on other people's info, or do anything other than view pictures (without comments), it will simply link your browser to the mobile version of FB. The official FB app is my favorite, but the widget sucks.

I link my contacts to FB so that I can have a picture to go with the contact. The other benefit of doing so is being able to view pictures on FB easily. The FB app for Android is alright, but it's not as good as the iPhone/Touch. If you are using the FB app and click on a picture in the status of a friend it takes you to the Touch FB site. It's very cumbersome to look at pictures that way. On the iPhone/Touch when you open a photo the FB app loads all the pictures and you can scroll through them. Because the Android FB app doesn't do this, the easiest way to get this functionality is to open the contact on the phone and select the pictures icon at the bottom to load the FB pictures. It's really the only thing I don't like about the Android FB app.

Actually, to update your status, just open People, click on your own contact at the top, then click on your Facebook link (that has your current status listed next to it).

You update your status straight from HTC Sense.

No linking. I do it all the time.

I just update from the twitter widget. All my tweets go to FB. I had tried your method, but the delay prevents me from doing some quickie status updates--which actually might be a good thing...

Aaah, see I just use Twitter to follow, and I've never 'Tweeted' even once.

I'd try that.

I can also see using a Facebook widget to efficiently update my status, but that sounds pretty streamlined.
