Generally people who run websites cannot tell when something is saved. It's nearly impossible actually.

The Android browser is similar to Google Chrome in that they are both based off of the same core rendering engine ((Mobile) Webkit) which is also the rendering enging for Safari and Mobile Safari on iPhone.

As a webmaster, if I want to pay attention to my website statistics in detail, I can see if someone has saved the page to a drive instead of visiting it live. So if you want privacy around that, make the default drive named with no identifying information, or view the page (ouch) with both images and Javascript turned off. Some people get upset when they see someone saved their pages, I think it is cool when somebody likes a page enough to keep their own copy.

as sdjf said, if we care we can. certain areas have laws though that state we can not save the full ip address for instance.

alostpacket, although both chrome and safari are webkit ( I wish it would die as well as moz and o), they do use different rendering engines. For the longest time border radius for instance would react differently in chrome than safari, since then chrome has fixed their bug finally but they are different.

I often do that, to show ESL students English language websites as there is no internet in the classrooms. Usually it's things like news sites or pages from Wikipedia. What I'm saving is for academic purposes, I never plagiarise anything and all copyright notices and credits are retained.

I was wondering myself, can webmasters actually tell if someone has saved a page? After all you've already downloaded the whole page, images, CSS and everything else, you're saving the contents of the browser's cache. AFAICT there is no interaction with the website while saving a page. I know that some websites try and disable copying and pasting of content, but that's so easy to bypass.
