***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Before I left work... I read that someones mom was at a verizon store and saw a commercial for the nexus and then someone else was going to go there to try and verify. Did that happen?
It was too late for me to make it to that store. However, I won't be far from it tomorrow, and will stop by and see what's up.

Someone else can dig for the link. Sorry, not interested in looking at the moment. There are both an official update to ICS (P3 confirmed over a week ago) and one from a 3party mod.
Thanks to RichSz in another thread, there is an article today on Engadget stating that a fix was released by MoDaCo while Google promised the fix is coming. And the fix is not conclusive yet...

And I sure hope that this volume problem does not affect the LTE version as mcadam has pointed out. :)

Verizon always does things the same way, except when they don't.
Non Thursday launches? Rezound
silent launch? Droid 3

the Droid 3 was available online for sale on the same day that the official press release came out. there was no announcement prior to the day the phone went on sale.

That's cause they knew the Droid 4 was on the way...probably didn't particularly care to sell many Droid 3's if there's a new LTE one coming, and honestly, the Droid 3 should have been an LTE phone anyways.

Funny thing just happened:
I'm in my room upstairs and my dad's watching TV downstairs. I hear a faint "DROIIID" and rush downstairs. I catch the 2nd half of a Droid RAZR commercial, and my dad says "you are way too obsessed". He also proceeded to tell me he saw an ad "with people waiting in line for a phone" and I said "Samsung Galaxy S II?" and he was like "yes... you are pathetic"
Only you guys would understand :p

My friends and family are the same(they think I'm crazy until they want help w/ something technical)

And I should be doing homework right now but everytime I try to start this thread keeps distracting me. Ugh!!! Verizon is interfering with my academics by not releasing this phone!

Also, for those of you that discount the idea that the Nexus could have had a name change at this stage of the game due to all of the boxing and packaging already being made and the first round of phones already being shipped. Don't forget that they did it to the Incredible.

This was the ORIGINAL box early adopters like me got:

And THIS is the box that the next round got:

FULL name change and packaging change AFTER launch.

No worries, the wings will accomplish the same thing. It's a win win.

The one in Cherry Hill on 70 is the one I usually end up at, now that the one in Lakes isn't within walking distance anymore. Tends to be a middle point for most people.

I agree, PJs hires some top notch talent.
And I do love me some good wings.

Not quite as commercial as PJs, but they also own a fabulous craft brew resturant called the Pour House in Haddonfield. Thier on tap list is quite good. Khybers in Philly still has one of the best tap lists though.

Dude, I'm the same way right now. From 4 PM until 10 PM (now) I've been obsessing over this phone and haven't gotten any work done... :(

Steven has been pretty adamant that the OP is for the Nexus only and I've backed his decision for previous requests like this.

By popular demand and after discussing with Phases, I'll add it now.

Please note that Steven may modify it for placement or emphasis or whatnot - it's his post, but we'll work together to clear this confusion.

Hope that helps! :)

PS - there are already thread clarifications there by Phases, so please expect that it might move from my initial placement in keeping with those notes.

I've been thinking about this "original post thing" and I think I have a better solution. Bear (roar) in mind this is all based on an assumption about how the subscribe to thread emails work.

Instead of having a special first post we have a locked sticky thread that is a single post. In that post we tell members to subscribe to the thread (with email notification if they want up to the second notices) and it will be updated when pertinent information comes through the jungle.... errr pre-release "lounge" thread. This could allow the first post of the lounge thread to state reminders for behavior and a mission statement for the thread. It would also allow people who have to work and only one the juiciest of rumors to distract them to be notified. They would get that info without the posts on how South Jersey is way better then North (swamp/yucky beaches) Jersey.

Same ownership as PJs, more irish pub feel then sports bar/blouse show. Was only there once to watch a buddy's set, but I enjoyed it Technically both PJs and Poor House are in Westmont as Haddonfield is a dry town, but we all prefer to think of it as Haddonfield. ;)

NFC GOOGLE WALLET NOT NATIVE?

Hey guys,
One of the key features of the galaxy nexus (besides ics) is the nfc capability. i was under the assumption that a google device with nfc would have native support for google wallet. I was shocked to find in an article on engadget that it isnt native for the hspa+ version and u have to root your device and other fancy stuff just to get it to work.

Does anyone know if google was planning on releasing an compatible version of google wallet in the future or will it be native on the us lte version. This is a huger bummer if you have to root the device just to get an app that should come stock. anyway thanks for your response in advance,

Cameron

The Pour House has an excellent selection of beer - not a Miller Lite to be found. A new place also opened up in Turnersville, House of Brews, that is pretty good as well. I believe there used to be a Fuddruckers there, and it's about a mile from a VZW store. Pretty convenient. Definitely gonna have to take a look at Khybers.

Im tired of hearing all this mess about the nexus, its just a phone that you will tire of quickly. There are real life issues and we spend time obsessing over a damn phone.

He's right on all counts. I wish I wasn't such a nerd so I wouldn't have spent so much time on something I use 5 minutes a day outside of streaming music in my car.

I'm assuming they'll update after the phone is out in more places

Just saw this tweet too.

I think the reason we're obsessing over it is because we're all tech nerds and we love speculating this kind of stuff :p

Plus, I think he tweeted earlier that one of his friends was diagnosed with breast cancer... maybe he's in a bad mood.
