Battery life as percent to single units? eg 76%?

Hey,

Ive noticed on the phones status page the battery life percent only goes down in tens. Eg 90%, 80%, 70%.. etc

Is it possible to narrow it down to single units like 76%?

Ive tried some apps on the market but they all see the battery at 70% but i'd like to know if this is the upper or lower half of 70%!

Yeah, it is probably estimating. That is why it says it gets better over time once it is calibrated.

I was just commenting on why the phone status page and most apps/widgets only report 10% increments.

It does seem to know when I have excessive drain on my system because when overclocking and doing something processor intensive I can see the percentage drop and a much faster rate, even between 10% intervals.

I've been using Battery Left for a little over a day now. So far, it lists my estimate as "rough". I'm not sure if that's going to change, but it only calibrated for a few hours before changing to rough status. It's not very accurate from what I can tell. It's telling me I have 22 hours left with the battery at 30%, so I assume it's going to take more calibrating.

It can take up to a week to really calibrate but the wait is worth it.

Mine just went from "rough" to "moderate"...it's only been about 2 days and "moderate" seems way more accurate than "rough".

i've had mine on for over a week now and its on "Accurate" but the battery reading is totally wrong. system says 70% while the app says 30%. its wayyyy off.

I was actually bored enough this weekend to read about the app on the developers website. The app has to see a bunch of battery drain & charge cycles...I forget if it's 5 cycles or 10 or whatever. But it learns your phone's usage and estimates your battery percentage left.

I've had a similar occurrence to yours and it's because I usually charge my phone when the battery drops to the 50% mark, which means the app has seen plenty of drain & charge cycles above 50% but not very many below 50%. So below 50%, the app isn't very accurate. The developers site recommends charging the battery fully then letting it drain all the way to death a couple of times so that the app can learn your battery usage & charging cycles - I started doing this today and I'll probably do it a couple of more times this week to see if it gets more accurate.

I just wish I could replace the current battery icon with one that actually looks right. I'm sorry, but 50% is not an almost full battery icon.

I've been using Battery Indicator as it stays in the status bar. It has a temp reading too, which is nice.

I don't think Battery Left will work too well for me as I charge every night, no matter what the charge is currently at.

The developer of "battery left" has a to-do list on his site and he's actually working on having something with an accurate reading in the notification bar. I remember reading something like that a few days ago.

You can charge every night. (I actually charge my phone twice a day when it gets to about half-battery-power.) Depending on your situation (if you're a student or don't work in an office and don't have access to a charger during the day) you may not be able to let the battery drain all the way but that just means you'll lose accuracy at low battery percentages. But it's up to you - There are a million battery apps out there. Check out the developer's site though to see how the app works and what he's working on - He's even got a quick FAQ over there.

yeah plus it's not like you have to keep letting it drain down forever, it is only a few times so the app can get an accurate reading for those ranges. battery left is pretty darn accurate for me, even with my quick charges during the day and full charges at night (once I did a few days of letting the battery run down to 5% or so).

I'm starting to find that this widget is pretty inaccurate. I've been using it for a few weeks and it's seen a few full drain/charge cycles and it'll still be off. for example, it'll show that I'm down to 5% battery and have 16 minutes left until dead...then i'll tap the widget to look at more details and it'll suddenly jump to 16% battery and show that I have like 56 minutes until dead.

Last night I turned off my phone before I went to sleep and when I woke up today and turned it on, it showed that I had negative battery life left. The worst part about that is that the negative battery life issue was supposed to be fixed in a software update that I downloaded 2 days ago.

I've been running "battery left" side-by-side with the battery widget I was previously using ("batteryviz", which only uses 10% increments) and they frequently show different readings but "batteryviz" seems to be pretty accurate while I just can't figure out the method to "battery left"'s madness.

It's a shame - This widget has a lot of potential and I like the idea of single percentage values and time left until dead but its proving to be too erratic and inaccurate for me. I think I'm gonna ditch it today.

I hope you guys have better luck with it.
