I have been waiting ever so patiently for the galaxy nexus on at&t.

But today, on this cold rainy ct day, I slipped and fell crushing my nexus one screen.

I am now stuck with ether the vivid or the gs2

I do not want the sky rocket.

What do you subject and what is atts holiday return policy?

I don't think ATT has any special holiday return policy, and even if they did I strongly doubt you'd see the ATT branded GN available anytime within the next few months.

I understand you want the GN, but don't feel "stuck" with an S2. It is probably the best smartphone on the planet right now, and will probably hold that title for a while to come. If it weren't for ICS, there isn't a single thing the GN would have over the S2.

Maybe switch to Verizon? I know they allow returns for up to a month after you have purchased the phone.

If I had unlimited data on AT&T, I'd stay with AT&T and either pay $750 for an unlocked Galaxy Nexus or get a SGS2 on contract (which is a better phone than the Galaxy Nexus except for the screen).

Only reason I'm on Verizon is unlimited data and 4G LTE to take advantage of it.

Normally with VZW you only have 14 days.

The Canadian version is expected to be released sometime next week. You should wait and have one imported. It'll probably be cheaper than a Euro Galaxy Nexus.

Processor on the S2 is better than the GN's as well.

And to the very worn out argument about the processors, you have no way to factually say one is better than the other. Just your opinion. Don't state that as a fact.

The CPUs in Exynos and OMAP4 are comparable (both Cortex A9 at 1.2GHz) but Mali-400 is proven to be a higher performing GPU than SGX540.

That's fact, no opinions there. Exynos is superior to OMAP4.

That said, I'd take a GN over an SGS2 any day. The software is superior OOB, development will be abundant, and you will always enjoy the latest version of Android first.

I think the no hardware buttons is a bigger feature than you give it credit for being. It adds quite an element of versatility. Also, it just looks much better than that iphone imitation looking euro galaxy s 2 (big physical home button). NFC is already worth something. I currently use my nexus s to pay for things at the gas station, best buy, drug stores, dairy queen, and other places (those are the places I frequent the most that I use it at). And by no means would I EVER trade no physical buttons for the gs2 camera. The gs2 camera is nice but I would get way more use out of the buttons that I ever would of the camera. You use the buttons every time you operate the phone, whereas some people don't even use the camera once a week. I'd choose the GNex over the GS2 any day of the week (my GNex will be here tomorrow). Now if a person already has a GS2 I don't think they should move to a GNex unless they just really really just have to have it, or unless they really need vanilla android.

I'm on Verizon and I would gladly smash the shizzle out of my Thunderbolt for a GS2. Seriously. I can't think of a bigger disappointment than losing out and not getting a GS2 alternative at Verizon and being left with this disaster that has been the Galaxy Nexus. Not to take anything away from the Galaxy Nexus, but if I had the choice to get a Galaxy S 2 TODAY... I'd do it in a heart beat and not look back. Ever.

Get the GS2. It's a fantastic phone. If you don't end up liking it, you can always sell it off and pick up a Galaxy Nexus.

Google wallet isn't officially on the galaxy nexus but we have it ported on there. So when my phone comes tomorrow I'll be able to use it to pay for things just as I already do. Just because most phones don't have NFC doesn't mean it isn't useful. Your phone may not have it, but I use it all the time and will be able to continue doing so, sorry but you're the one that's missing out there. Also on screen buttons are more versatile. The CPU and especially the GPU in the OG GSII are considerably better then the GN, so is the camera. The GN is basically its screen and ICS, if you put ICS on the GSII HD LTE it would easily be the best Android phone on the market.

When people minimalize "just the screen" being better I think they are really fooling themselves. The screen is the main thing you deal with on the phone. You're not going to push the processor every single day that you use the phone, but you will undoubtedly look at and use the screen each time you use the device. The low resolution gs2 isn't in the same zip code as the GNex. People who bring up the GPU fail to acknowledge that the gpu in the GNex is still quite capable and doesn't struggle to play any game. I'd much rather have nfc, on-screen buttons, and a better screen than a gpu that I will never take full advatage of and little bit better of a processor (though that is debatable how much better the exynos actually is). Add to that the fact that the phone will always be ahead of the gs2 in updates and that there is no overlay skin to concern myself with, I'd say the choice for me is quite simple..GNex.
SN: At this stage in the game, having a low resolution and claiming to be the best phone in the market (if it had ICS) is not quite accurate. At this juncture with qhd and hd screens on the market, I can't back you on the "it would be the best phone argument". The screen is probably the most important feature of a phone because that's what you look at and use each time you use the device. Processors and gpus are great to TALK ABOUT, but in reality none of these processors are slow by any means, nor are the gpu's (and there isn't anything out right now that really pushes the gpus anyway so it's really a moot point). Who cares what a score on a benchmark says, it isn't going to translate into any better of an experience than anything else with a capable processor or cpu. This is the same reason I'm not really concerned with the quads that are on the horizon, because I really don't see anything that's going to truly take advantage of the hardware. I've yet to have any dual core phone I've owned struggle to process anything.

Explain to us how the CPU is better? The two CPU's are comparable. Matter of fact the CPU in the OMAP 4430 and 4460 routinely out performs the exynos in testing at like clock speeds. The ONLY thing the Exynos has over OMAP4 is the GPU and even that matters little at this point unless you play games heavily.
