How many actually go for the keyboard?

I am researching this beast, but to be honest i have no interest in the keyboard.

Firstly, its so much more money.

But primarily, im not looking for this to be a laptop replacement. It will be my in-between. When i want to do gaming, or massage my archived files, ill use my laptop. For 90% of everything else ill jump onto my Prime.

Never had a tablet before, but i think this is it

Anyhow, wondering if anyone else was looking at this, with zero interest in the keyboard?

I think I'll get it someday. When I had the transformer I thought wow a keyboard would be nice. I'll probably get it as soon as I find an app that does java programming for android such as eclipse mobile i guess?

Just ordered 2 tablets and 1 keyboard dock. I did such a good job of convincing my wife that after showing her some of the videos she wanted one too. The only reason I wanted the keyboard is so I can take the tablet with me when I travel for work and be able to answer emails. Otherwise it will be a good stand to watch movies on the plane.

The keyboard is what makes it so awesome, IMO. You get the best of both worlds, laptop and tablet.

When I first started looking at this I had 0 interest in the keyboard. Then as I started looking at it I've realized it adds a few things that really make this a top notch system. With the keyboard you're getting 4+ more hours of battery life, a USB2.0 port, a SD Card slot. So if you get the 32GB model and the dock you should have 96GB available to you and 128GB if you get the 64GB model. That's an insane amount of storage. I've leveled off on my storage needs on my phone at around 8-9GB. I don't have movies on it yet but I've just fired up netflix and streamed those usually. I didn't order my keyboard with my tab because Newegg didn't have keyboards and last I checked BestBuy only had the Champagne Gold not the Amethyst Grey.

Of course I'll be getting the keyboard. I originally was looking at getting a Macbook Air, then I saw this was announced. I figured I would wait and see what the Prime was really capable of.
I waited, and I'm happy I did. I'd much rather bring this around as my laptop than an 11" Macbook Air; and for a little more than half the price, I can probably do everything on this that I could on the Macbook, and then some.

My biggest problem with the Prime is no USB host...unless you have the keyboard. So yes, I'd get the keyboard.

I have only a very slight interest in the keyboard. This is going to be my first tablet (my boyfriend has the Transformer 1) and I'm interested a tablet mainly to be able to get off the keyboard since I am prone to repetitive-motion stress and spend all day on the computer at work. I'm also interested in the go-anywhere portability and the usefulness even when lying down on the couch, so the keyboard isn't really a factor in my decision. On Android I mainly use the speech-to-text option instead of stressing out my hands typing on the touch screen. However, if the type of software I use for work starts coming out for Android, then I might consider the keyboard to allow me to use my work computer less.

I'll probably get one eventually but I'm more inclined to see how mcuh I use the keyboard. I've been using Swiftkey for so long and now that I've built up my language module, I rarely type any word anymore. But having the usb host is a definite plus

USB basically works on a master(host)/slave setup. Devices such as your phone, USB sticks, etc are only capable of acting as a slave. That's why you can't plug a USB stick into your phone, even with the correct cable; the phone won't provide any power to the USB stick.

Nowadays android is capable of acting as a USB host, so long as you've got a proper powered USB host port on the device (like the one on the keyboard).

If I recall correctly it was either in a video or an article that had a picture of a status indicator on the tablet screen showing the interactivity of the battery in the dock/keyboard to the battery in the tablet proper. So if the it was docked and the dock is plugged in to charge I believe the dock would be charged off it's power cord and in turn charge the tab. I'm not 100% sure on that but this is to the best of my understanding.

The keyboard is the reason that I chose this tablet over others.

Hardware wise, there will be tons of quad core tablets very soon, some w/ even better specs than the Prime. But AFAIK, this is the only tablet that comes w/ a detachable keyboard/battery. When you have that setup, it becomes much more productive and gains the potential to become a netbook replacement. Suddenly, you can now reply to long emails and write papers on your tablet, vs just using it as a media consumption device.

I chose this tablet because of the keyboard option; however, I will not get the keyboard from the outset. I will use it without the keyboard probably for a few weeks but I know I will be getting it.

I will probably be getting the Prime without the dock initially, but I will almost definitely be getting the dock soon afterwards. The additional functionality that the keyboard, USB, SD and extra battery provide is definitely worth the extra $150 for me. Heck, I paid $50 for my G-Tablet's folio case that holds it at an angle to type on it, and it doesn't do squat besides that.

Pre ordered the keyboard, in champagne of course.

Its so thin, when connected its probably the same size as some of the first gen tabs. Plus adds more battery life, and housing a card reader is another bonus.

I'm also replacing my laptop for a majority of things so a keyboard was a must.
