I was thinking the same thing since I stay in Detroit, I get full bars of 3g.. should I switch?
I would say if you already have a good 3g signal then you shouldn't switch, updated PRL's are for people that don't have a good 3g or a good signal at all. So whatever PRL gets you the best 3g signal i would stay with that one.

For those in the Detroit areas, I have tried all of the prl's (except 3024, 3025 came out before I got to write it to my phone) and currently on 3025 and have finally got solid 3g icon for the last day or so. Before that it was a couple days of on and off after unlocking my phone. But been on solid since. Speed tests show wayyy lower ping results, but the download speeds are still slowwww. Sometime the test will start but wont actually start counting until the download test reaches 40-60%, so I've seen speeds as slow as 4-18 kbps and highest of 180. Average is 40-90kbps, but the browsing speeds seemed to improve enough for me to be happier!

how long have all of you fellow detroiters been getting 3g? I stay in the suburbs but work right downtown and have tried pretty much all the prls but no solid 3g when im downtown at work it will switch but once i got to use data it will switch right back to 1x. Right now on 3022 and it will kick to 3g for a sec or two while at work at warren and 75.

I updated to 3025 and after a few days of it switching on and off (I'd try the web when I seen the icon and no data and back to 1x) it finally stayed. I'm in.the downriver area and haven't seen the 1x icon in weeks. Taylor, Allen Park, Lincoln Park, Southgate, Wyandotte, Melvindale and in Detroit (Vernor and Clark) and everywhere in between.

Just update to 3025 manually using a guide found on this site (search), even though Metro seems to be OTA (Over The Air) updating to 3025 many phones I've seen.

what kind of download speeds are you getting? Cause from what i hear its supposedly capped. I havent been fortunate enough to get any data when i have got the 3g icon to even pop up. But in my case i think it may be if the speeds are cappped and not actual 3g speeds then my phone may not be recognizing it as 3g. Who knows. It might just because im not using a metro phone. Is anyone getting anyhting near 1mbps everyone thats posted speeds that i have seen throughout browsing are low for kilobytes and high for kilobits. can someone switch there speedtest to mbps just to see what it is? Even if its like .25 download thats way better than what were used to.

Speeds? Not so good using any download test app. Most times its as low as like 4-40 kbps, but have random days where I've seen 100-180 kbps. The highest I've gotten was 330ish and then a couple 200+. Seems as though the speed test app doesn't start the actual downloading until the test is nearly done. So not sure what's accurate. I do know I have faster internet browsing speeds while 3g is active. So there is some improvement over 1x, but not much. I guess it depends on what area you live in and how strong your signal is. I have a couple apps that show my signal strength and inside I only see 3%-45%. Every other place I've been, the highest I've seen was 65%. So that leads me to believe that my signal isn't strong enough to perform an accurate test. But then on the other hand the ping test is always in the 175-250 range and the upload is always the 150ish, but the download is all over the place (super super low 95% of the time).

Thanks that makes more sense if those are the speeds your getting. My speed tests show the same scores. My phone just won't show me its on 3g. I have noticed something in the evdo settings that relates to a minimum of 248kbps. So I gue@s its true what they say that metro 3g is not actually 3g.
Your ping scores are good I'm suprised you aren't scoring higher on download.

Well just flashed this to my phone then switched to edvo, No signal, but back on 3023 switch to edvo, get 3g for a little while then it goes away along with signal so still not much around my area, Boston MA.

I been waiting to hear from someone from Boston, MA. This is unfortunate that it is not working =/ Please though if something changes I would like to know. I'm new to this forum thing so if you can PM me so we can stay in touch, it would be good to go back and forth with someone from my area.

Actually it depends all on location and the prl. 3025 is the latest but worst for me. 3023 actually was the best. But 3020 was okay as well. Its mostly the place you live in. Some people actually get pretty awesome scores.

I noticed you included the link to the 03026 prl in the Detroit 3g thread, has anyone tried it out? Curious because its usually just 4 digits rather then the extra 0 this one has. I'm sure it was just uploaded from a different phone, but wondering if the slight difference will affect anything...

I do believe I seen a prl with the extra 0 on another phone model forum here, but would extracting the prl from another model be any different?

Prls aren't phone specific. I've used the prl from an ascend. And nothing bad has happend. The prls are network tower based. Not specifically for phones.
