***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Status
Not open for further replies.
Well, as I did state before, I choose to keep my sources anonymous for variety of factors including the fact that many people question credibility and legitimacy. So like my original comment earlier in this thread: take this as you will and by no means should you consider this official until Verizon states it.

....
I really appreciate all the thanks so far and I will update you guys if I hear anything else related to launch and preorders.

No need to justify yourself, I, for one have no reason to doubt what you say. IMO your infrequent, informative and polite posts makes you more credible.

Thanks!

So what kind of accessories are u guys planning to get with the nexus? Is a dock worth it?

people will have very different opinions on that one. I personally want a car dock and a home dock because i use my phone as an alarm clock and as a gps/mp3 player in the car. someone who prefers cases might not be as into docks since most cases have to be removed in order to dock the phone.

It makes sense to put all off topic banter in a hide tag. This way people can scan the thread to see all the nexus info they are here for without being distracted. This is a Galaxy Nexus thread, after all.

This, however, still allows for OT talk. Just an extra click to read it. Let's give it a try.

I may even make a show/hide button that just says Off Topic, rather than Show.

I thought that's what the open is for. Also, I thought the op warned of off topic banter.

Yeah, I think its clear the rules are changing slightly. To be fair we have been abusing the off topic leeway a little (or a lot) the past few days, so Phases is tightening the leash just a little as a result I think. It's fair, this thread is almost finished, let's finish it off as clean as we can.

Ninja'd by the man himself :)

I'm sure you can understand if Verizon doesn't want to release that information to the public. :)

I'll be honest, I'm not going to reply to a lot of such comments as I'm not here to prove my credibility (hence why I stated from the start take everything I say as you will) but just wanted to clarify something.

  • December 13th was an internal launch deadline that was set regardless of the outcome of final testing as they only involved minor bugs. Verizon wanted to have this phone out by then even if it required a patch update post release.
  • December 8th has been set as the tentative launch date ever since the initial bugs were ironed out and only after the minor bugs were discovered, it was decided that a few days delay should become a possibility in case they couldn't guarantee December 8th due to ongoing testing.
  • However, the results are now in and they have been deemed acceptable hence the original date of the 8th is now internally official. I am only here to report this info and not to say that this is publicly set.

I really want to point out however to not take anything I say as official. We all know nothing can ever be 100% until you hear it publicly from Verizon (and even then last minute changes are always possible). I am only stating what is the current status.

I really appreciate all the thanks so far and I will update you guys if I hear anything else related to launch and preorders.

The information you share is much appreciated. Some folks might get jaded from situations changing unexpectedly and may have an automatic distrust of anyone claiming to be "in the know", but, you know what? A little faith can't hurt, people. No matter what anyone says when, Verizon's going to annoucne it when they announce it. The worse someone can be is wrong. Noone should plan things around rumors and speculation, but it's nice to have some hopefulness rather than thinking of tarring and feathering the messenger. Such sources are usually just as excited for these things as we are and equally disappointed when they don't pan out. And, since the majority of the sources don't control the launches, it's not their fault when formerly factual information becomes unexpectedly untrue. Me, I'm looking forward to the 8th. If it doesn't happen, it'll happen soon afterward. :D

So, how about that weather?

..like that. ;)

I think this, if it works out okay, will be a standard for future pre-order threads. It is important to keep the Nexus talk/info easily accessible as that is why people come to the thread int he first place.

Appreciate everyone's support with this. :)

My BS meter is surprisingly quiet regarding open1your1yes.

December 8, I believe, will be a day of joy and angst.

Joy at finally holding the over-ripe fetus in my hands. :)

Angst at having to manually thank 100 of NJ's posts. :(

Any reason as to why Verizon can't just communicate the situation to us? It's not like we are all going to go out and buy ReZounds because we don't know the GN is coming. It's a different era in today's world. We know it's coming and we are all waiting as consumers.

So in saying this, why no communication? With social media being the new thing that companies use... then use it wisely. Keep us updated. Or be smart and give realistic hints. We are going to find out anyway. I cannot find one positive in hiding information in today's world.

So maybe with your expertise/source of your sister can enlighten as to why they are just refusing to give us a date. Hell even if it is pushed back, just explain why. Good communication is always great customer service.

THIS!

as one poster said earlier: read more; post less. this is a fine example. open1your1eyes gets my first thanks in this thread, sgrinav gets my second for being completely rational.

OT
it may be hard implementing this so deep into a thread, but if anyone can do it, we can!

But then those new people that don't understand the time we've put into our family here can just skip pages and not bother the mods with requests to tell us to stop. I get it. I agree with it. I'd be even happier if the app had hide buttons.

I appreciate the response. Sorry for the doubts... just so tired of the idiots that come in here trying to BS us. You do seem legit... so again, please forgive.

I always seem to end up with my posts being at the end of a page where no one sees them.......

Is anyone planning on getting a decal skin sticker (such as the one below) for their Nexus? I would think it extremely annoying to have something not completely transparent covering the touchscreen. Anyone use something like this now that would care to weigh in?

Just got off the phone with a csr. She was very helpful and I think I have some good info.

My upgrade date is 12/27. I called to see if I could upgrade early. She asked me if I had my eye on something. I, of course, told her the gnex. She said ohh yeah, that's going to be a great phone. We all know about it here. She was attempting to do a preorder, with an early upgrade for me, but, after some time, she told me her computer would not allow her to add the gnex to my order. She gave me her direct email and told me she would be happy to do an early upgrade for me as soon as it became available.

The way she sounded made me think it was going to be real soon. I asked her about the 8th, but she couldn't confirm. When I hung up I got an email from her.

Those of you not eligible for an upgrade yet, don't fret, I'm sure all csrs are able to authorize early upgradeable. VZW wants you to sign up for 2 more years!
