This IMO is one of the better practical comparisons and also some perspective of the ASUS Prime quad core.

The key example is not even an intended point of the video, but in spite of the super fine resolution of the Rezound, the contrast IMO offsets this in a BIG way. The video shows it.

Benchmarks are token, but does reflect my own tests and actual device use for multimedia and games (Razr is faster). I think the 720p display on the Rezound is hurting performance.

Another point where the Razr touch response seems better is also supported in the tests.

Motorola Droid RAZR vs HTC Rezound - Benchmark Tests (video)

A perfect example of the weaker contrast of the Rezound is at time 3:19. Notice the lack of visibility on the Rezound. Can barely see the lines and this is a typical viewing environment for a device (inside and not dark).

motorola really should have just put a non-pentile display into this phone. I agree that 720p is overkill especially when it comes to performance, but the display on the razr being pentile really does kind of make it blurry in some cases and shows weird artifacting in some color gradients.

Can you please show us here a SuperAMOLED non-pentile high resolution screen be purchased?

As far as I know, it does not exist. You can either have 800x480 non pentile or higher resolution, but pentile and that is also true for GNex, it has a pentile screen too.

Some would prefer the lower 480x800 res.

Not saying I would, I have awful eyesight and so it doesn't bother me, however it is a big deal to a lot of people. The GNex doesn't really apply here as I have yet to see a single reviewer (bloggers or actual users) say that they can see the Pentile at that resolution.

Unless viewing mainly whites, pentile offers a power savings, so need to consider the total package. I do anyway.

Pentile debate aside, the touch response seems the best on this device of any I have tried and especially the Rezound. Playing emulators with a virtual pad is actually fun on the Razr and the video helps explain why.

Still find it interesting that this video compares the difference in contrast better than any examples so far, but was not one of the points intended.

I wondered about the higher res and performance before the Rezound and G Nex came out.

Cant wait to see some comparisons between the RAZR and G Nex. The performance could also be related to Sense. Seems its gotten a lil heavy with each update.

Or the GPU is having issues for some things cuz of the higher screen res. But that part of the test with the men chopping down with swords, the FPS was alot better on the Rezound in the beginning.

The multi touch test....maybe I will go back to playing emulators on the RAZR. It was kinda frustrating on the Droid X1 for some games.

My wife has the rezound and I have the RAZR so I've seen the results side by side with the same stream.

The rezound screen definitly has less contrast ... but it also has more accurate color. Everyone but me apparently loves the super saturated superAMOLED screen. I also feel like the greys are too green and the yellows are too red. I do have a bit of photography background so it likely bothers me more than most but the skewed color density drives me nuts.

Also my wife was running the Hot pursuit demo yesterday with no hickups ... so I don't think the high resolution is hurting preformance is an appreciate way.

Depends on the apps as far as if the resolution impacts performance. Game emulators are a biggie, but no harm no foul if you do not play them.

Seeing the device outside is also an issue, but the one trump for the Rez is being a LOT easier to use with one hand. If you have average or smaller hands, the Razr is flat-out awkward. A tangent to the thread, but is the one glaring issue with the Razr, but also a good thing, since affords the hot swap card and game emulators are easier to use with the space. Irony.
