I tried this when they were offering the same deal with the blackberry storm. They wont grant it unless your due for the new in 2. I talked to everyone I could possibly talk to and called, talked to soup's, etc. So I paid full price for a storm and still didn't get a second one.

You're still within your 30 day grace period, so if they don't ya could always just return the phones and plan.. then set up new plans with the BOGO offer. I would imagine they would adjust your purchase though just to avoid the hassle.

Just did the Buy 1 Droid get a Droid Eris free like a week ago... I think I'll see if I can change it up; only problem is I already cut out the UPC to get the MIR.

I bought mine less than 30 days ago and would call to price match if i dont have to activate a line...

I purchased my droid 35 days ago, but didn't want the eris they offered free at the time (my wife's line was due for an upgrade). I just called verizon and went through two different managers and bitched and moaned and they agreed to give me a free droid that I applied to my wife's line.
The rep I dealt with told me that she has internal communication that next month verizon will release the girlfriends droid (her words, not mine)---supposed to be just like the current droid but white instead of black.

It's on the "phones" page if you go to Droid, it says next to it, "Buy One, get one of equal or lesser value for FREE!" The offer started yesterday. I called Verizon this morning, told them I was within my 30 days, and mentioned a price match on the new offer and they took care of it immediately. They just asked where I bought the phone (I bought them in a Verizon Store), looked up the invoice, then added the credit to my next bill. No hassle at all.

Droids require the 29.99 data plan to be activated.

You don't get a free phone all willy nilly, you need a 2 year contract attached to that "free Droid."

i don't mean to butt in but i agree with the poster said.

say you go in and have a second line to get the droid/droid eris free
if you have a spare phone just dial *228 option 3 and follow the directions
and it will tell you how to switch the phones

just make sure you dial *228 from the phone you want to put on the line and make sure the second droid/droid eris you buy is off because it won't work

All smart phones on the VZ network now require the 29.99 data plan to be activated. The phone may be free but you will be required to activate with that data plan.
