Both Incredible 1 & 2 got their first update within 4 months, the Inc1 to Froyo and the Inc2 to GB. The second update, the Inc2 got theirs around a month after the first (going from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4) while the Incredible was around a year later (going from 2.2 to 2.3.4).

If they follow the same pattern, the Rezound should get ICS around February '12. It would be a major embarrasment after making such a big deal about how they are committed to getting ICS on the Rezound early next year to have it come out in May, 7 months later.

They should have already started on Sense 4.0, since they are planning to have it on phones like the HTC Edge early next year for Mobile World Congress, which starts February 27th. While we will still be behind the Nexus family in terms of how quick we see the updates, I believe that the Galaxy Nexus release on Verizon and other carriers along with the broader coverage of ICS (vs. that of GB or Froyo) will put pressure on OEMs to update their phones faster. I may be delusional, but that's my take on it.

But if you return it you should get. The full retail value twords the gnex so you found get. The Nexus for 100!$ it that sounds like a great deal to me

Your post was a little hard to follow, but if he returns his Rezound, he won't get back the full retail price, he'll get back his $50. Otherwise everyone would buy a $300 phone just to return it and get back $650. Even if he sold it he wouldn't get full retail for a used phone, since that buyer could get a new one for that price.

The Nexus will be subsidized on Verizon just like anything else, so he wouldn't have to worry about paying full retail for it. But with Verizon not really pushing it, the Nexus may be a bit before we see price drops like we did for the Rezound, which was mostly due to Black Friday. Granted we do have Christmas coming up, but Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year in the US. It's hard to beat that.

Although, I'm sure Google has an agreement with HTC not to release ICS before their fancy little device comes out. I'd love to see it happen if only to rub all the Nexus fanboys and fangirls a little raw.

Anybody find a nice vehicle window mount for when using this phone for a GPS? Now that I have this wonderful big screen, I would like to actually mount it to the front window in my truck while using the GPS.

To root or not to root, that is the question! I think that ICS from VZW on the Rezound will only be about 1-2 weeks after they release the Nexus (I mean Prime, possible name change?). The Rezound works great, lots of memory, fairly fast processor, brilliant screen, and Black Friday price. I will save the money for my next upgrade to keep the unlimited data plan, get ICS and have enjoyed my phone for quite a while.

Waiting patiently for Google to release the latest greatest "M" Mincemeat software upgrade. My Rezound perfectly works with "L" Lemon Meringue Pie.

I agree with a lot of the points made in that article, but not the overall conclusion.

It's certainly true that anything they do to enhance the desirability of already-sold phones encourages current owners to keep them rather than upgrade to new-and-improved models. A lot of iPhone 4 owners upgraded to the 4S just to get Siri, which actually ran perfectly well on the old iPhones before Apple kneecapped them.

Migrating a phone to ICS isn't a trivial effort -- the development requires a serious investment of resources, and the Q/A probably even more to make sure they don't break anything that used to work.

But I can't imagine HTC breaking a commitment made publicly to support the Rezound. FWIW, while I'll probably install a CM9 when it arrives, I wouldn't have bought the Rezound if it hadn't been advertised with official forthcoming ICS.
