***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

Hello everyone. I have been a lurker on this page for a while now. I have come across this link to add to the speculation/ hope that everybody is waiting for. HTC Incredible I just hope that the ram is higher. I am kind of disappointed that the phone will be out in June. http://www.pahing.com/2010/02/htc-incredible/

I tend not to believe specs about a phone when they can't even use the right picture (its a HD2).

+1

This article also says tha the screen is AMOLED at the beginning, and color transflective TFT at the end. It looks like the article is just regurgitating what was stated on a site we discussed a few days ago as being nothing more than speculation- no sources cited, not even an "anonymous tipster."

Guys, there are thousands of spam sites that exist for the sole purpose of weaseling a few bucks from Google ad-sense. They put up just enough coherent English about some topic to keep the user on the page for a few seconds but just because it's words on a web page does not make it automatically credible. I've seen a few of those bogus sites posted so some members' BS detectors seem fault.

Top clues it's a spam site:
1) If they don't mention the source of their info, it's bogus. Good sites will provide a link to the web page their info came from or they will post a picture and mention how they got it. Only in rare cases will a legit story be posted strictly based on a written or verbal tip and in this case only large established blogs like Engadget or maybe BGR should be given the time of day.
2) Are Google ad-sense advertisements recklessly spewed all over the page? If yes, it's a spam site.
3) Have you ever heard of this site before? If not, it's probably a spam site. Websites no one has heard of before do NOT tend to get scoops on anything. Any if they do they should only be given any credence if they cite a good source.

Really, 95% of news about smartphones will make it to Engadget. Another 3% lingers on the FCC and the last 2% I'd say come from forums like this.

I can't wait any more and with the Eris being only $80 and a second for FREE I am stopping by Verizon tonight to by them for me and my wife. This is the phone I originally planned to get and was going to until about 2 weeks ago when I learned of the N1, Incredible, and so on. I am driving my self absolutly nutts!

I just had to pay out a few hundread dollars to get my heat fixed at my house, plus I need new tires very soon on the car. So, there goes my extra money I was planning on getting one of these better phones for my wife and I. Plus, I would rather spend my extra cash on my motorcycle.

It is a little disappointing that I can't get one of the other phones, but if it ends up that they are not available til June I really don't want to wait almost 4 more months.

Plus, I will be getting another quarterly bouns from work in July, so perhaps I will just sell my Eris and buy whatever is new then :D

Don't forget to get a one year contract. Also you can also sell the Eris later on ebay and apply that money towards a N1 or what not.

so whats your super-duper decoder ring needing site say about HTC phones and Verizon right now (this is an honest question though the text may make it sound dickish)?

Honestly, that site's chatter has been pretty tight-lipped with the advent of the MWC. They usually don't talk much about carriers anyway, which only serves to frustrate me more. Usually it's just about specs (which find there way onto the web in a week or two anyway) and about certain countries. I will say, they're pretty damn proud of the Desire's instant success. What I find most surprising is how much attention is being devoted to China. But when you have a fifth of the planet's people, you're going to be treated as such, it seems.

If the Desire makes it's way here I would put my money on it going to AT&T. Verizon will get the Incredibly Exaggerated Name sometime after the Verizon N1 release.

Oh, and in response to the post about Verizon not giving a $hi+ about us....yeah...file that one in the obvious file! It doesn't make the .2% of us any less frustrated. It really is puzzling...you'd think a major carrier would want the latest and greatest handsets. I think AT&T sees the writing on the wall and their exclusivity with the iphone ending. I think the Desire may indeed by a strategic move on their part. Very interesting observation...one has a great network with average phones while the other has the greatest phones and average network. Sure would be nice to have both!

I was thinking today about the Incredible and the Desire. And then I started to think about there optical track area and was noticing that the Desire has a button around the optical part so you can click on what you where scrolling for on your phone like what we do when we click a link on a web site. And then I was thinking about how the Incredible didn’t have what seems to be a button around the optical pad. Unless the found a way to make that capacitive also which I don’t think they can do since it is caused by static electricity from when you touch it. So that makes me think that the video of the Incredible was of an early production model and is going to change. So could the Incredible look more like the Desire? I don’t know. I am just thinking I have no proof to back up these thoughts. Thanks for listening to my long winded post.

Been lurking here for a while, and really enjoying the lively and civil conversation. I wonder if I'm the only g--l here? Anyway...if HTC is anything like hardware/software manufs I've worked for, they're sourcing, testing, and changing things right up until the last minute. Project names get changed on a whim and sometimes even the Project Managers can't keep 'em straight. It is SO much fun writing the documentation when it changes the night before release. This cliff-hanger shell game works to their advantage because with that level of craziness, clever pundits like you guys can't know what's happenin' until product launch.
Like da Buddha said, "Desire is the root of suffering." He recommended cultivating non-attachment: No hope, no fear, be in the moment, embody compassion... dammit, lemme just get this call....

Verizon Headquaters: Maybe they will listen if we use our voices.....212-395-1000

And say what? That you're pissed because Verizon's business plan didn't follow through on internet rumors cooked up in some guy's, who has nothing to do with Verizon's, bedroom? That dammit as a Verizon customer they should screw over their suppliers and damn the timelines all to hell because you saw on some nondescript website a newer awesomer phone?
You and the other whiners are acting like Verizon announced they were not only getting the Incredible, Desire and Nexus One but announced they should have already been launched. They haven't. Verizon right now has the top 2 android phones you can get in an actual store and those were launched only 3 months ago! They're going to get the best Android phone in roughly a month. They have every major cell OS except for the Iphone. The Incredible can't be too far off into the future (being that it has the Verizon load screen means that Verizon is now testing it).
So honestly what is your complaint? That because you decided to wait from a time many months ago, skipping over very good phones, for something you deem as perfect but that phone hasn't come yet and you just found out another phone is going to another country?
Oh, and keep the bitching to the Verizon forum and stop the complaints in a phone specific forum!

WOW.....you don't have to yell. I am simply saying if people want Verizon to notice them, they should man up and call them, INSTEAD of posting comments on forums. I haven't been waiting that long. My new every two just opened up on February 7th. I am saying Verzion has the number one network, but all their phone offerings are number two or come out way after everyone else has the next best thing. I am just tired of being last. I guess I will go back to lurking, as my comments are not welcome nor appreciated on this forum.

HTC Desire ROM gets ported to Nexus One, brings Sense with it | Android Central

This looks promising. I could live with the Nexus. However, I would love to have that great looking HTC Desire on VZW.

The thing is, on crap networks like AT&T and T-Mobile, they have to have the best phones because they don't have coverage. On VZW, they feel that it isn't necessary because, hey, we are all not willing to switch, and VZW knows that. So they can release whatever they want -- good or bad -- because we will stay with them.

Well...now here's a Nexus One I could live with.

HTC Desire ROM makes Sense on the Nexus One -- Engadget

Hell yeah! That's maybe as close as we'll get to a Desire on Verizon...and I think I'm ok with that. I was kinda planning to not root or hack my next phone but for sense on a N1 it'd probably be worth it.
I've also been thinking for those that go for the N1 rather than the Incredible, ya think there's any way to still cash in a new every 2 credit....with Verizon and Googles new ETF I'm trying to find a loophole to get my $100.

Thats a great point. Other carriers need something that attracts customers to make up for lesser coverage. I am sure they make GREAT offers to supplies for the best of the best phones. Phones that Verizon is willing to wait on. Therefore not needing to shell out to get, because like Ruben stated, most of us will stay anyway.
