called one of my local stores and the guy was well aware of the gnex. he joked around a bit told me he didnt know anything but he was first in line haha. he took my name and number down and will let me know when he hears anything. I could tell he was hiding something, especially when he said he would be fired if he told me anything else (joking around still). But it sounded like end of this week would be a stretch, probably next week.

also, hi everyone from the incredible forums that remembers me.

Called my local store here near Scranton, PA and got an immediate and rather angry "No we do not" after asking nicely if they had any info regarding the release.

Looks like Verizon's website just got another sale, and that Verizon store just lost one. I can wait an extra day for shipping. Plus, I can be the first to touch my phone as well.

Hooray for terrible customer service!

(And yes, I realize that it's not their fault if they don't have any information, but the lady was acting as if me calling for information was a crime. The least she could have done was acted to look it up instead of basically cutting me off to get me off the line.)

Guys forget calling, we are all getting to many different answers. I called2 corporate stores. One said no info on release date. The other said before christmas, that they haven't even gotten training on it yet but they have gotten the accessories but not for sale lol, amazing. Also called a verizonwireless authorized dealer which almost looks like a corporate store. She said Thursday afternoon. I call back and say where did you get this info because other stores say no clue. She says no, that is the release date, you can google it HAHAHAHAH awesome.

Do we seriously think the reps are just telling random lies to random callers? Why does anyone need to call and verify anything? Leave the reps alone. People calling 8 different stores to compare stories, shame on you. You're making the reps day hectic and it's not going to get you anything in return except more rumors. Someone said they had already reserved a phone at a store so they declined to reservation offer at the alternate store they were calling. Why call another store and waste their time if you already have one reserved?

I think people are excited about the release (duh!) and are calling their local stores to see who will have it in stock, as well as calling to collaborate info, since there has clearly been a ton of misinformation.

Just got off the phone with a rep and they told me that 12/9 is the date for new contracts while 12/8 is the date for upgrades. I guess Verizon is doing something special for current customers to ensure those of us who currently are customers are basically guaranteed we will get it the day it becomes available.

You can call my store: (815) 756-2355

Got Michael on the phone. Told him I had friends in Georgia (it was a stab in the dark as to picking a state) that were able to make appointments for pick up on Friday. He said he is waiting for it too and hasn't seen anything but he knows it will be relatively soon. Said to call again tomorrow if I want to check again. Hung up.
*sniffle sniffle, whispering I just want my Nexus*

Now that is pretty interesting. I'd been kind of wondering why the rumors seem to be about 50% for the 8th and 50% for the 9th. That would explain it: *both* dates might be correct.

Ok so here's my conclusion.

My state - New Jersey - is garbage and isn't getting any Nexi ever so the stores there know nothing (reasonable right?) :p

Everyone else is getting them on Thursday or Friday.

Preorders Start at midnight tomorrow after a PR announces them either later tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

Boooooooooooooooom.

Im hoping for a pre-order, only because I can't get to a store on Friday. So I am hoping for web orders soon, for delivery on Thursday or Friday.

I'm starting to think that them saying "I'm showing the 9th" means that they're checking the internet. I can't imagine that their systems say no release date and the 9th at the same time.

I was going to ask Demitri this, but I was afraid of the answer. :(

I believe most are going off of gut intuition and not an actual VZW document/screen. For example; I stopped in to my store today on my way home to confirm my loyalty discount...

...dang it! I wasn't going to make one of those "stopped at my local store" posts. Redundant info. Moving on.

I see alot of you guys calling corporate stores. I got my "confirmation" from a retail store. Are those different?

Not necessarily, but maybe. "Retail" just means any store that's selling the phone. Some phones are owned and operated directly by Verizon Wireless (those are the corporate stores); others are owned by other companies, like Best Buy or various local businesses. These are sometimes called "authorized retailers." But the term "retail' by itself is ambiguous; could be either.

Probably because everybody and their brother has been calling to ask about it. If I had to answer the same question 150 times a day, I'd probably be irritable also. Just saying.
