What might I know?

The video the guy posted in that link, it was of the 2.1 on the Eris, that was really blurry. I can't seem to find the thread right now, but I wanted to say you were the main one talking to the person in the convo, I believe they were having trouble. Anyways, never mind :)
BTW: This is mckinzie.rose, I just changed my name because I don't want my name online, nothing super paranoid, just...ok sorry I'm babbling.

HTC just told me over the phone that they have no information that would verify that the update has been released. They also told me that when updates are released, they are usually one of the first to be updated so they do not think this is reliable. Although this could just be them following protocol until Verizon officially announces it.

Lol You can get the mods/admin to change your original account name. That way they don't ever yell at you for having two accounts.

Yeah, the S guy changed his screen name too. I think he was trying to avoid problems with "The Company". He wasn't having any problems, just showing us what was to come.

Ah, what I did was change the email on my old one, and used my normal email for this new one. But if the mods want to delete the old one I have no problem with it. Maybe thats why I couldn't find it... anyways, sorry, back on topic! I'm excited!

I think that is probably more the case. With the number of reports of Eris + 2.1 + problems = Oh Noz! that are out there today it is hard to imagine this is a hoax. This guy would have to go so above and beyond to set this up it would be ridiculous. Posting on multiple forums, making multiple photoshopped images with the correct build numbers and creating random bogus problems? If someone really went through ALL that trouble to create a hoax then they deserve to have people believe it, IMHO.

Not to mention that there have been several reports from different locals that Verizon employees are stating Eris + 2.1 with in a 2 week time frame.

They might have "accidently" started rolling out the rom which a few people with enough technical knowledge noticed, the rest just called tech support. They also might have realized there's a issue and are holding the update to a later time. I believe they are/were planning to release the update this week, or latest next week. Perhaps a bug was found in the way it was delievered over OTA so they pulled it right away?

ill call it, and a few people already alluded to it....i actually believed the OTA story....but.

Engadget said:
Verizon tells us that the Eris update to a "newer" Android is still in testing and hasn't yet been officially released, so we're taking all this to mean that there's been a slip-up along the line -- especially since this obviously isn't final software. In the meantime, we'd say Droid Eris users should probably back up their sets just to be safe.

every person claiming to have 2.1 on the eris, posting pics, or videos, are one of the larger group of verizon testers. i do not believe anyone got anything OTA.
