my store in lakewood nj is opening at 8am on friday, which his manager said was "extended hours"

They seem to only do that for a device launch. so I shall be there an hour early and hope for the best.

LOL i called a store where it was open at 8 for the Droid and they were like... "what? we've never opened early ever... except for the Iphone."

CHYEA OKAY.
stupid.

Hey guys, i know u hate these stories but i thought i'd share mine anyway:

just called bestbuy about 2 minutes ago to speak with the mobile department about upgrading the the galaxy nexus. the guy there was pretty chill and seemed a lot more informed than the oblivious verizon reps i've spoken with. Anyway, i asked him if it would be releasing this week. basically, he said "we were specifically told not to give out any specific information, but it will release VERY soon." When i told him i was from the android forums he said he's been checking this forum daily and went on to say he was just as excited about the phone as i was. after i said thanks for he help, he said "the 9th would be a pretty good guess, but don't hold me accountable."

anyway after talking to the guy it gave me the impression that my best hopes of getting the phone early is through best buy. i'l probly head over there after school on thursday and see if i can talk to the same guy.

hope this helps...

now on to a topic a bunch of us likely are interested in thats on topic.... i wont how much thickness the ext batt adds?

I have the Droid Bionic and the Nexus is WAY thinner... It feels perfect in my man hands, and I can reach the notification bar with my thumb, one handed. It's SICK!

And the camera is way better than I thought it'd be. Crazy fast!

So I contacted two stores near me in suburban Philadelphia in Springfield and Glen Mills to see if they would confirm if they would have the phone and/or if they could hold one for me if they did.

The Glen Mills CSR stated that they expect it for the 9th but can't confirm if they will have it in stock. This was after waiting about 20 seconds on hold.

The Springfield store seemed to make more of an effort as I was on hold for almost 5 minutes and she said that they were having trouble connecting to the Verizon site and couldn't confirm if it would be in stock, however did confirm that the site does say launch on the 9th.

Both of the stores stated that they couldn't put one on hold if they were in stock. Anyone else know if in my area if they have had success? Sorry, I can't make it down to the Christiana mall to get it and back in time for work without being super late.

Here is a quote from the manual that was posted earlier. For all you people who have never had a Vanilla Android device, this may come as good news to you:

Share your phone's data connection as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot

1
Go to Settings > Wireless & networks > More > Tethering & portable hotspot.

2

Check Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

After a moment, the phone starts broadcasting its Wi-Fi network name (SSID), so you can connect to it
with up to 8 computers or other devices.

To stop sharing your data connection, uncheck
Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

Rename or secure your portable hotspot
You can change the name of your phone's Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and secure its Wi-Fi network
when it's acting as a portable hotspot.
1
Go to Settings > Wireless & networks > More > Tethering & portable hotspot.

2
Make sure Portable Wi-Fi hotspot is checked.

3
Touch Configure Wi-Fi hotspot.
The Configure Wi-Fi hotspot dialog opens.

4
Set your name and security options as follows:
Change the Network SSID (name) that other computers see when scanning for Wi-Fi networks.
Choose a security option. Choosing
WPA2 PSK adds a password field to the Configure Wi-Fi
hotspot dialog. If you enter a password, you will need to re-enter that password when you connect to
the hotspot with a computer or other device. To remove security from your Wi-Fi network, choose

Open
.

5 Touch Save.

This will require a wifi hotspot additional $$$ charge from VZW, right?
