Best DUAL SIM android phone?

I have been getting more and more dissatisfied with my Cherry Orbit/Gsmart G1310 - My niece, with her Samsung Duos, and my wife with her Nokia 101, both dual SIM, can use the SUN service all day long from home but my Cherry only gets a signal for about 15 minutes a day. Note that one of the SIM sockets in my Cherry gets a stronger signal than the other - I have the SUN SIM in the 'better' socket!

So, unable to find a better dual SIM Android locally, here in Philippines, I have placed an order for a G14 Sensation with etotalk.com. I do hope that I will be more satisfied with the G14, and that I haven't made a dreadful mistake.

I have little idea how long it will take to deliver my G14 - I'm hoping that I might receive it before Christmas.

Does anyone here have personal experience of the G14 (or G11i Pro), who can put my mind at rest. If not, I may do a little write-up on the G14, when it arrives.

There is a guy trying out a lot of dual sims. He reviewed both the G11i Pro as the G14. Check it out here

Spec-wise it seems to be the best dual sim phone available at this moment. Also the software seems to be adjusted for dual-sim. However, I don't know how the software behaves and how the build quality is. Could you tell us your opinion when you have the phone?

Samsung announces a dual-sim and dual-screen 2.3 Android phone here. The specs are by far the best ever seen. It seems to be thick though.

.

Bought a Dual SIM Dual Standby 3G Android smartphone two months back in my country, Malaysia. 2 SIMs are active simultaneously. It is called Gfone Deuce G1315.
Sounds like the Gigabyte G1315. Is it the same? Are you happy with the phone and does it do what it should?

Wow! I'd been hoping that Bruno would report on the G14, but hadn't found this - thanks for the link.

Yes, it was Bruno's review of the G11i Pro, and knowing the similarities between that and the G14, which encouraged me to order. I'm pleased to see that the microSD slot has moved back and isn't obstructed by the battery, as it is on the G11i Pro. Stacked SIMS is similar to my Cherry Orbit - a good, space conserving, arrangement. I'm also interested to read that the UI has been further enhanced. I'm delighted to read that the battery life is so much better than the <24 hours of my Cherry. I'm becoming more eager and impatient to receive my G14.

I guess that there is a good chance of Bruno supporting the G14 with his modified ROM images! :)

However, I don't know how the software behaves and how the build quality is. Could you tell us your opinion when you have the phone?

Indeed, I will post my impressions once I receive the phone.

This is not a Dual GSM phone.

It is a GSM + CDMA2000 which unfortunately is probably not suitable for most people looking at this thread. It would have been awesome if it supports dual GSM or GSM + WCDMA.

In fact, there are quite a few really good quality GSM + CDMA2000 phones for chinese market from top manufacturer.

Motorola has just announced a variant of the RAZR as XT928 which is Dual Core+Dual Sim + Dual Network+Dual Standby + Dual Connection. Which means the phone will stay connected on both lines all the time (even one line is in used).

Again, unforunately one of the lines has to be CDMA which is not available for many countries.

Hi,

Could anyone help me with this installation of the standard calendar app? Where do you put it on you phone? and what r/w rights do you need to set?

Thanks in advance!

1. Download the .apk and put it on your SD card.
From here: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
Or a newer version here: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

2. Make sure that you have checked Settings -> Applications -> Unknown sources

3. Install a file explore from market (ASTRO or ES are good)

4. Browse to the file, and click on it to install

I've received my G14 yesterday and the phone seems to be good.

So far I've tried the GPS and wifi, and both seem to work well.

The screen seems pretty good, but I'm having some troubles getting a stable network signal. For some reason the network reception goes down on both sims  in places that i normally have a excellent reception, I have to more calls to see if this persists

Ooops ... that's not good. That is exactly the same problem I'm having on one SIM with my G1310. Does Android and dual SIM just not work together?

Perhaps I'm going to be disappointed! :(

Hi! Zau,

Are you from PH? I just wanna know how much tax you paid for ordering your phone oneline. (If you are from PH).

As for your problem, there has been a firmware update that was released to address that issue. I read it somewhere in Bruno's blog. If not you can check out eten forum where its the support forum for Bruno's Android OS.

Thanks!

Jonas

Hi! All,

Just would like to know if anyone from PH has already ordered the G11 series from ETOWALK?

Just wanna know if you have been charged with taxes. If not, what courier service did you use and the declaration et al for not being charged.

Just wanna know. Was about to order yesterday but backed out due to horrible tax stories i read.

Thanks!

Jonas
