First... I didn't do this. I take no credit. Found the link on XDA forums. It is in .apk format and doesn't need root access!

Go to THIS LINK (UPDATED) in your browser...

After installed, go settings and go into Language and keyboard.

Once there check "Touch Input":

Then go to any text entry field and long press it until you see "Imput Method"...

Then select "Touch Input."

Now you have the HTC Keyboard in an enjoyable resolution for the Nexus One (And Moto Droid) screen!

I think it's awesome but I have to admit I'm a newb when it comes to installing things outside of Market, but the warnings it gave me are acceptable? I had to allow unknown sources and when I activated Touch Input it warned it could be a key logger. I assume it's standard practice, but it got me a bit nervous ;-)

This normal I assume?

this is clearly the best touch keyboard for the nexus one, but how do you all think it compares to the swype system?

since I've been using swype for a while now it's kind of head to switch back to two-handed tapping. but there are some things that I don't like about swype, such as automatic capitalization, its slow delete key, and that symbols are a pain to type.

i gave this a shot... installed it... got it running no problem... but couldn't stand that keyboard... i found the symbols distracting on the main keys... and the suggestions block the main txt window... plus i prefer the dark look of the stock keyboard than the white keys of this htc keyboard...

The more I use this the less I like it. One big flaw in my opinion is the fact that when you're in the Browser and you select the URL bar, the keyboard doesn't display the spacebar icon because it assumes that you want to enter a URL, thus spacebar is replaced with a slash. This should be a user option. It's like they forgot that you can not only enter a URL but search in this input field as well!

I also don't like how it tried to give you auto-complete options with your browser history. For e-mail and sms this kb is great, but it falls apart in the browser.
