When I receive a phone call while my phone is locked, when trying to answer the phone, the phone application crashes giving the error message appears with "Sorry! com.android has stopped unexpectedly. Would you like to tell HTC?" and then options to force close or tell HTC! From then it either closes or sometimes it crashes and the phone won't stop ringing until u take the battery out!

So basically I cannot answer or reject calls when the phone is on lock mode! Which is very inconvenient as majority of time my phone is locked!

However when the phone is unlocked -it works perfectly fine, can receive and make calls with no problems.

Please can someone help? thank you.

Model - HTC Desire S
Android Version - 2.3.5
HTC Sense version 3
Software No - 2.13.206.1

I have the same problem allthough with a small variation to it, I have posted my problem here as well: I cannot link to htcdesiresforum because it is my first post. Read quote below

I have a recent problem with my HTC Desire S, running Android 2.3.5 and HTC Sense 3.0.

When my phone is on the lock screen and I receive an incomming call there is no ringtone; when I want to answer by dragging the green phone icon into the lock ring, it stops and says "com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly", and then I am forced to enter my simcard 4-digit pincode.

If I get a call when it is not on the lock screen, then there is no problem.

Any solutions for this? Note that I have had the update (2.3.5 and Sense 3.0) for quite some time now, and the error began yesterday, and I dont have any taskkillers or installed weird apps. I have tried to reboot, without luck.
The only recent change is the update of Android market to version 3.3.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

OK the problem was due to FACEBOOK contacts linked with my existing address book!

I basically re-installed facebook app and made sure the facebook contacts do not sync with exisiting contacts. My phone can now accept or reject calls :)

I hope HTC next upgrade can recitfy this problem!

@Blackman.

You won't be able to remove any apps that are part of the phone's ROM, its permanent memory. Facebook is one such app as it came pre-installed on your phone, along with all the firmware, etc.

To remove it you'd need to root your phone, which will allow you access to system-level files and what's on your ROM. In a rooted state, your phone's warranty will be invalid.

I have done the following, which solved my problems with the phone crashing upon receiving calls.

1. Go to your facebook app and under synchronize settings choose to delete all facebook data. Afterwards log out of the facebook app.

2. Go to account and synchronizing settings and remove any facebook entries.

Now your contacts should no longer contain any data from facebook and should not be linked with facebook either.

3. Go to the facebook app, sign in and re-choose the synchronizing settings. Press "synchronize in upper right corner"

4. Go to accounts and synchronizing and add facebook for HTC Sense and perhabs also the normal facebook account.

It will now start re-synchronizing everything and you have to link all your contacts again, but it now works :)

THANK YOU!

Thanks DashTK, don't know how you worked that one out but I followed your instructions and its fixed. Couldn't understand it this morning when I couldn't speak to a friend when he called but I could call him, plus I could answer calls from my own landline. Nice job.
