Help Why is this phone somewhat laggy and non-responsive?

Some of the reviews I read stated very low speaker volume (not ear piece volume). Some of the reviews (phonedog for example) noted lag and showed it on the review video. I don't know. I have a bad taste from owning previous Samsungs....

Phonedog also noted lag on the Rezound, yet most people here tell me they're lag free. I think Baker finds lag on every single device he picks up.

Anyway you can post a video of the lag you are experiencing? I'm thinking some people may be getting it confused with "lag" that was present on early android devices. Like the article stated, seems that all android devices experience some sort of lag. I too notice some "lag" here and there on the Rezound. More like hiccups on occasion or "stutters". Not extreme slow down. For the most part the device is super fast though like others have stated, but to say that it's lag free like an iphone seems to be inaccurate. May be the Sense UI that's holding it back too. Hopefully once we get ICS, it will take advantage of the hardware acceleration that its supposed to bring.

Yea I played with a GS2 and that thing was smokin fast. Must have a lot to do with Sense vs Touchwiz. I love sense though because of the look and customization, but it does seem to slow phones down a bit.

Well not to be a troll but every manufacturer at some point hits their pinnacle. The Galaxy line as a whole is not great....The I9100 is in fact a top shelf device, as well as the AT&T variant and Sprints, all that have the Exynos processor are truly awesome devices. Even Samsung could not live up to its benchmark with the Tmobile Galaxy S2, AT&T had to ruin it again with with the SGS Skyrocket. I have to say that I am a speed JUNKY, I would switch to a network in Antarctica if it said "we have the fastest device available in the world" but I think at some point you have to just look at a device for what it is and if you like it just use it. There is no such thing is a truly perfect phone, they are all going to have there fallbacks. I will be honest when I say that I hate HTC and I hate Motorola...so yes at some point I hope one of these manufacturers makes a device that makes ME a hypocrite.

I think that your phone looks quite nice and really wouldn't mind owning one but I am not on Verizon...I also think just messing around with it for a few minutes that it performs REALLY well, and for any user cannot see really anything to gripe about. I have seen VERY few phones that I would even compare to mine...Yeah I know... this is the fanboy in me......but the Rezound is in no way, not comparable and being a Samsung fanboy I have to say I would take the Rezound over any of the spin offs on the the Galaxy SII line. Its a nice phone and I think its a really good step in the right direction for them, as they have released a whole TON of crap before this phone. Kudos to HTC.

BTW...No comments about me hating HTC and then referring to my list of devices
the HTC HD2 owns all phones....One of the only devices that can run ALL variants of Windows, Android and even UBUNTU.

That is because all Android devices lag to some extent, including every single Rezound. People reporting it not existing are just not scrutinizing the device enough. How picky and observational different people are varies by a large degree.

I disagree with that only from the standpoint that reviews like droid-life are comparing the relative lag of one handset to another. Yes, all android devices will display this behavior, but from what I've heard some are much smoother than others (with the GS2 seeming to be king of the non-ICS crop).

Personally, I have found the Rezound to be perfectly enjoyable to use (and smooth). When I turn on live wallpapers though, the Sense UI really noticeably lags behind.

Another measure people often site is how much lag occurs when you are scrolling a web page. I have noticed some of this on the Rezound (at least with the default browser... less with others). Other phones don't do that as much... so again, the comparison seems valid.

Just my 2 cents.

Every android phone I've owned, including this one, is a little slower when using live wallpaper versus static. However, I don't notice it nearly as much with the rezound. But I would not call it jerky. The only time I really see it is opening/closing the notification bar and app drawer and the folders I created through the smart shortcuts app. Just know that it's not unique to this phone. I even read a review on the GNex that also said that there is some lag when using live wallpaper.

Ok, thanks for the reply. This is my first Android device (huzzah right?!). I've been waiting and waiting to upgrade my iphone 3gs, and this device really fit the bill (display was a big factor for me). I'm still a little nervous about not getting the G-Nex... but I'm hoping I'll be rewarded in time once the Rezound gets upgraded.

Common report in regards to Rezound and mentioned in some reviews. Could be due to the 720p display.

That said, I think live wallpapers are absolutely insane to use on a battery powered device. Superfluous IMO.

I like live wallpaper as well. It's one of the most distinguishing features android has over the iphone. In normal everyday use, where you plan on charging the battery at night, it doesn't really drain the battery too much. Of course it also depends on how graphically intensive the LWP is. I use one that changes my static wallpaper every 15 minutes. That one has very little impact on battery and doesn't slow down the phone at all. However, I recently bought the Christmas HD LWP that the market had for 10 cents as part of their billion download celebration. While it's one of the coolest LWPs I've ever seen, it murders battery life and results in notable lag. Still worth it in small doses (to show off).

Yep... I had the same experience with the Christmas HD LWP. Its amazing, but lags a bit for me & really is just too busy anyway for everyday use. Still, its cool (and heck, it was only 10 cents). :-D

I can comment on the Galaxy Nexus not being laggy one bit, I own the GSM version and it has been every bit as fast as my Galaxy S II. A friend of mine just text me and said he just got the Rezound and so I might be stopping by from time to time for him. For some reason he thinks I am weird for always being on here.

I am curious to see this device in person, I would love to compare the screens of this device to my Galaxy Nexus. Both should be stunning. My friend has been loving his device so far.

OP, everyone has their opinions on phones, sometimes getting a lemon can stray you away. Nothing wrong with that, it happens. Hopefully you enjoy the Galaxy Nexus for Verizon when it ever comes out.

Based on other posts I've read on xda, the lag on the GNex wasn't present with the stock ICS LWP. But it was with third-party LWP like the Christmas HD one I mentioned. If you have 10 cents to spare, maybe you could down load it from the market and test it out on your GNex.

I will say, however, that even with the stock Sense color bubbles LWP, you notice lag on the rezound. Not nearly as bad as with the Christmas HD, but it is there. It'll be interesting to see if that's still the case once the phone gets ICS. My guess would be that it won't -- or it will be very much less apparent.

Btw, I really love the Christmas HD LWP. It's so customizable and gets me in the holiday spirit every time I open my phone. I love being able to customize the names on the stockings and placing my own photo in the picture frame on top of the mantle (I have a wedding pic of me and my wife and it fits perfectly). I have it set to pan, which kills battery life, but looks fantastic. One of my coworkers who has an iphone saw it the other day. His jaw dropped. He even remembered the wedding pic. Really nice touch. Best 10 cents I ever spent.

Heck now that I think about it, just place all the blame on Android itself. Look at Windows Phone 7.5, smooth as a babies behind rocking the same SOC as the Nexus One.
