***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Because its thin. It doesn't feel like a big hollow peice of plastic like the charge did.

Yep, and I think the plastic that is there maybe be denser or just more meaty pieces rather than big light flimsy pieces that surround a lot of the edges of the phone like the cover does on the charge. Basically the fact the light flimsy cover being relegated mostly to just the back face and not the actual sides that you are gripping helps give this solid effect.

It did seem plenty dense and weighty though even though it didn't weigh much. I would guess the S2's have a similar feel.

I've yelled this meme in forums on cellphones for YEARS. So annoying to me this isn't even an option. And when a company such as T-Mo does offer unsubsidized pricing for plans if I am not mistaken they give you a pretty crap discount compared to the sorts of incentive money it seems retailers get for selling devices.

I think to make this happen, we consumers need to DEMAND that it does. Tell them we don't want a contract and subsidized pricing, but rather better monthly cost and pay whatever the device costs from whomever we want. As long as most customers are happy with the subsidy regime we are stuck I am afraid as no other carriers seem to want to set things up different.

Right now you can get unlimited data (throttled after 5GB) and 100 minutes for $30 a month on T-Mobile. Great plan. I just would like to have the Verizon unlimited LTE.

But every day that passes takes me a little closer.

As one of the offenders, sorry guilty as charged.. however, please take the time to read the first post in the thread. This is a bit of a lounge-type thread where off topic stuff is allowed. Like you, some have had issues with it at times.. however it can be used as a bit of a measuring stick. If you're seeing a slew of off topic posts, there is likely no new info. Trust me, we'd all be atwitter about it if there was. Also, the most recent info tends to be in the first post. Steven and the other mods keep it pretty much up to date with rumors, leaks and pics.

And honestly, IMO, the off topicness here and there is part of the thread's charm and has contributed greatly to the sense of community here. I've commended them privately before, but Steven, Early and OTD have done an amazing job of keeping us relatively on track and civil (though some of that has to do with the wonderful folks posting here as well) without throwing the mod powers around willy-nilly like I've seen on some boards. They deserve a lot for helping to forge this community into what it is today. This isn't really a thread, it's a conversation among friends and that's quite frankly just awesome. I'd not go anywhere else for news without bringing it back here to my Gnex family because this place is like home, and the only thing I thank Verizon for with the delays is letting me spend just a bit longer with the great folks here.

...but since you're new here I'll refrain from the off topic stuff for a bit to raise the signal-to-noise ratio on GNex news since I've got nothing today. ;)

^^^^^This. Well said!

There is no way possible that was the reason for the delay. If that bug slipped all the way till now without being addressed and fixed, then someone at google/android got fired.

This is EXACTLY what was told to my buddy that is a Verizon reseller on Wednesday from one of the Verizon higher ups. He said that it had nothing to do with the LTE issues and everything to do with some software bug. Posted this awhile back.

I am from SW Minnesota originally (wearing my Vikings polo today, definitely NOT a fair weather fan) so I know what you mean about that stuff. Living in GA is nice, summer tires year round.

Holla! If I had a Vikings polo on today I would also be sporting the paper bag hat. Instead of watching games with hope I've taken to watching them for entertainment. A little piece of me died the night Brett Favre made the most ill-advised throw in recent memory.

Nice Car...I hate not buying american...but I'm on My Second Subaru WRX...
2009 WRX Premium...W/Catback Exhaust and minor mods chimes in at 310HP , and I still get me 29mpg (they were way off n MPG on both cars 4-5 low)...Drive By Wire, All wheel Differential, And ICE PIKE tires makes Wisconsin Winter Driving Fun...43 Isn't OLD

That's a pretty nice MPG. I think I get like 12 in the city. I wouldn't have it any other way though... I love my M5.

Just got back from a Radio Shack in Los Angeles. They had just received a shipment of them. Thought I might be able to pull a fast one but their system is not showing a price. I was able to fondle it for 5 minutes. It does feel bigger than by DX but felt lighter and fit in my hand well.

They said they would call me as soon as it was ready to sell.

Got my nexy fix for the day. Anyone else wanting one might try a local Radio Shack.

For all you who have held a demo unit. How is it possible that the phones so light but feels so well built and solid? This is one of my major concerns- I couldn't stand how light and cheap the samsung charge felt. I'm 6'3'' 220- I need a little bit of weight in my hands for something to feel well built :).

This is subjective. When I was able to play with the Nexus my only complaint was that I thought it felt too light and a little cheap compared to my Droid X. I wasn't thrilled with the heft of it. It won't stop me from getting one but I don't know if I would say it feels solid. Again, this is all subjective.

What do you do with 100 minutes? I'm not one to yack on the phone but that's pretty small. Especially with most people ditching land lines these days.

That's interesting because I am actually coming from a DX, and I love the feel of a semi-heavy phone. I'm a pretty big guy too and having something heavier makes it less susceptible to it flying out of my pancake hands lol.

Dang, "VCast Media Manager" cable... I know it means nothing besides the annoying sticker, but it's just another thing that should be untouched by Verizon :/

I'm still in awestruck that the box is plain white, and VZ actually kept something vanilla for once. Maybe they ARE learning a little (even though its just a stupid box) :) Anyway, looks very sexy.

It's not that sexy in person. It would have been cool if they would have embossed something on teh white box but it really is a plain white box with an ugly red inner box. Just my humble opinion.
