***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

If the GNex either doesn't meet my expectations or if it's pulled entirely, I'll have no problems going back to the Rezound and waiting for ICS. It is a wonderful phone.

You're lucky you've found an alternative, although I don't think the GN will be "pulled". If, for some ludicrous reason it got pulled, I'd have to wait for what is next on the list. The Rez is at the way bottom of list for me. A lot has to do with me owning HTC phones for the past 2 1/2 years (and they've been great) and their dated generic design and dated UI.

The only place I have seen it first hand is at the jamba juice near me.

Alright. I have the T-mobile version of the Nexus S. About two weeks ago I unlocked, rooted and installed Cyanogen Mod 9 Alpha 11. ICS is amazing and runs like butter on this phone. It included Google Wallet. I scouted out Paypass markers at McDonalds and 7-11. Perfect I frequent both for coffee etc. It's also at CVS and in some stores in 2 local malls that I know of. The official Paypass Locator App is available in the market for free ( https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mastercard.paypass ) I registered the service and upon activation/login of the app I received $10 from Google to spend. I tried it out at all of the above and it worked without a hitch. I like the convenience and right now, in the program's infancy I appreciate the ability to try something new. It's a shame I had to jump through hoops to get it on my Nexus device....100% reason I passed up on the features of competitors phones was to give Google my "OK! I'll be your guinea pig" Releasing the 4G version on Sprint and then giving the phone Wallet was the last straw for me in a sense. I'm going to treat these companies not as a friend but as the pipe they really are from now on. Unlocked mobile devices are fun but not when the network they reside on plays games. I had a Nexus One on release day bought from the online store (Pure Genius!), an unlocked Nexus S full price on release day (Best Buy exsclusive for some daft reason :(, and when the 15th hits I'm going to have telesales on speed dial with my Living social voucher and federal worker discount to purchase said phone w/ accessories. If Google's Nexus line doesn't start realizing it's worth the "Pipe's" will keep doing this to squash innovation and freedom.

Five Guys is the best burger most of you've had?? Come to Austin and I can send you to at least 10 places with a better burger.

Not me. I prefer a big fat juicy one on a grill in a backyard with friends. Give me some chips and a cold beer with it and I'll luv you :)

This will be the best phone without a UI skin and getting direct updates from Google 4-6 months from now.. and probably 12-15 months from now, I'll wager. That's more than good enough for me. :)

Given your 'qualifiers' that may be true since VZW may never release another one after this debacle! :D

One thing to keep in mind (unless I've missed it), I don't see any confirmation that this phone will get direct updates from Google without VZW intervention.

It's quite explicit and vulgar to a degree, but I love Stanley Kubrik! A worthy watcher indeed BB's if you can stomach some of it

Blood, gore and violence really don't bother me much. And if you haven't figured it out yet explicit and vulgar are right up my alley.

Morning all, how are things holding up in here?

All good. We're playing nice and have talked about WaWa, Sheetz, burger places and Nexus

So what cases/screen protectors is everybody going with?

i may as well order something to appease my appetite

I bought one of the TPU/Diztronic soft cases as many others here have. I just wanted something to put my GNex in right away. But I really don't like putting my phone in pockets...I'm more of a holster guy. I'm going to be on the lookout for a nice, low-profile case/holter combo. I hope there will be a case/holster that will work with a car dock, but I doubt there will be one.

Looks like I missed out on some excitement in here last night lol! I had to step away from this board for a while. All the talk about stores shipping devices back and voices of reason like The Chief (among others) talking about GNex getting cancelled all together was putting me in a bad place. It really helped to step away.

OT Burger Talk:
I live in Florida now, but I grew up in northeast Ohio. There is a small, locally owned drive-in chain called Swenson's that has the absolute best cheeseburgers I've ever had in my life! Swenson's is based in Akron and the surrounding area. They have a recipe of sweetening the ground beef and buttering and toasting the buns that really makes for a unique burger. There is another drive-in in Akron called Skyway that some locals prefer over Swenson's. It is pretty much a local arguing point over which burger your prefer. Both drive-ins were featured on Michael Symon's Food Feuds. Swenson's won! When I visit family in Ohio, they know one of my routine stops is Swenson's. Here in Florida I have to say Five Guys is the best, but nowhere near Swenson's.

Good Morning everyone :)

Trying to keep up on the latest news from this thread and although I was disappointed on not getting the Nexus Friday I am still very hopeful on getting it by next weekend!

I saw the title announcement and Steven's twitter posts last evening about the whole Google Wallet vs. Verizon ISIS issue and I remember this rumor being tossed around back in late Oct. or early Nov. as cause for concern for the release of the phone.

I have been doing some thinking and the idea that the phone wouldn't be delayed because of such issues is not quite correct if you consider this, If the FCC decides to investigate the Net Neutrality violation and finds Verizon broke the rules they would be the first company to have action (enforcement) taken against them for this and they could be made an example for others by the FCC.

Big if I know...but I am sure Verizon has their lawyers involved and they may have more knowledge of what is really going on behind the doors at Verizon on this issue and they may have decided that Verizon may in fact be in violation of the Net Neutrality law if they....and this is the important part...

Release the phone to the public without Google Wallet installed!

You see Verizon is not in violation of Net Neutrality if they don't release the phone...if they can come to an agreement with Google and fix the issue before they release the phone then the Net Neutrality issue is mute and their lawyers can sleep at night.

I really do think this is the cause of the delay...our sources have stated that it is a corporate decision to delay the launch of the device, it is ready for release. If the executives at Verizon are the ones delaying this launch it is for a VERY BIG reason, and a FCC investigation into Net Neutrality would fall into this category in my opinion.

Just my 2 cents...

I might or must have missed this too. Do we have any info/confirmation of who will be OTA'ing the updates with or without VZ intervention?

I never owned an HTC phone prior to the Rezound, so it was a new experience for me. I can't say I loved Sense, but I was certainly getting used to it and didn't find it detracting from the overall enjoyment.

One thing to keep in mind when you talk about 'generic design', is that almost everyone that's held one has stated how great it felt in their hand. It really does. There's something about the weight and balance of the Rezound that just feels right.

As much as I like Motorola, I can't say the same about the Razr. Of course it never helps that I've yet to feel a Razr without those damn umbilicals attached to the phone at all the VZW stores.

I don't think it's the best burger I've ever had, but I do think it's a better burger than In-N-Out.

Good burger joints always will make a better burger. For instance, Burger Joint in DC is AMAZING.
