OT -- warning, this is a long and sad story about my absence over the end of the week. Please do read it though because I have a really important message at the end I want to share!
Friday was possibly one of the worst days of my entire life. One of our puppies, Lucy got very sick very quickly. I thought it was just from her vaccines, but after a nap with her Daddy, she wouldn't wake up so I rushed to meet them at the vet ER. She declined very quickly and suffered multiple seizures as we learned her liver was failing and so was the rest of her tiny body. She was only 7.5 lbs at 13 weeks while her sister Scout is a healthy and hearty 12 lbs. Lucy was also suffering from an extremely severe gastrointestinal infection, the worst the emergency vet said she had ever seen. We took her in around 4 and by 7, we had to put her down. We are devastated as you can imagine. I haven't stopped crying for more than 20 minutes since Friday night.
When we got home after, our first concern was our other puppy and how she would handle it, we started talking about when we might be ready to find her another sister. I realized that we didn't know the adoption status of two of their sisters (2 of the other girls and the 1 brother were adopted around the same time we brought Scout and Lucy home). Apparently Lucy's former foster mom had the same idea - she sprung into action and arranged for us to adopt one of them at no attentional charge. So yesterday morning, we bravely faced that decision.
When we saw the two girls, we realized how gravely ill Lucy had always been. Her growth was clearly stunted by whatever disease had destroyed her liver. They were big happy healthy puppy girls. We brought home one of them - we have named her Boo. She has been a blessing - she's literally perched on my shoulder right now as i lounge on the couch typing this. She's so affectionate and reminds us so much of Lucy - but she has quickly become a wonderful playmate and companion for Scout as well. Scout is still struggling somewhat. She whined liked I'd never heard her before when her Daddy just left, I can't imagine how sad she would be with no sister by her side.
It's going to be hard for a while, especially seeing Lucy's grave outside and seeing so much of her personality in Boo, but we feel so thankful that she chose us to be her parents while she was on earth. We are so blessed to have been able to give her sister a home too.

But there is still one of their litter mates left in foster care, so in dedication to Lucy I have made it my mission to find her a home for the holidays! And in the end, that is the reason for this very long post, so I hope you have made it this far!

Please have a look at Jambalya!!

If you don't live in Michigan, please pass this along to anyone you know who does! She is a healthy, happy, loving, energetic girl who is great with other dogs and cats. She seems to really like kids too and I bet would be the perfect first dog because she always wants to play. She is almost completely house broken as I understand as well. Jambalaya is about 13 lbs and 13 weeks old, so a bit bigger than the picture on her website. She is also all up to date on her shots (so she only needs one more round of boosters and a rabies shot this year). If you live in Metro-Detroit you may recognize the name of the rescue because they were some of the leaders in the Save Ace campaign.

Anything you can do to help me find this little girl a home would mean the world to me under these circumstances.

Also, not sure how to upload a photo? I'd love to show off the last one of me and Lucy so you can all see what a loving baby she was.

If you made it to the end, thank you for reading this. I guess my Gnex puppy photo comparisons will be a little different now.

I'm so sorry for your loss. As a dog lover/owner that was very hard to read. I'm glad you were able to get another pup though. I hope you enjoy many years of happiness with your two little ones.

For those who haven't seen yet, this is a petition for Verizon to release the Galaxy Nexus.

Petition: Verizon Wireless: Announce a date for the Galaxy Nexus release | Change.org

Sign and pass it on!!

Lol. This was tried already and it got literally 4 signatures.
I don't think most of us are under the illusion that the release of this phone has any real earth-shattering significance. Verizon's not obligated to tell us anything. We're just consumers.

I'm not saying I like what they're doing, but it's not like their behavior warrants a petition as if it's some sort of human rights abuse

OT: Apparently its pet time, and I love seeing pics of everyone else's fuzzies <3 Here's a few of mine!
This is my dog Samus with her alligator. She's got a thing for pillows. She will grab throw pillows and place them where she wants them so she can lay on them. Its quite amusing.

She's a lab so its no surprise that she likes water. She'll swim for hours if you let her.

And then there's Vanish, my awesome Maine Coon. He's my little buddy. He follows me around like a dog. Its awesome trying to pee with a cat and a dog both following you in.

That's awesome, congrats! I tried to do the same, stopped by three small third party retailers, two did not have in stock and said they would sell to me if they did, the third had it but when I asked if it was for sale was told rudely that they were asked not to sell yet by Verizon, think they were frustrated as much as I.

The poor guy that helped me... I got there early and it was just us for a while and it was cool. We were looking at the device and chatting while he pulled the renewal paperwork, sim card, etc. Eventually people started walking in and he started getting flustered. One lady was Burmese and barely spome english, wanting to know how to reactivate a dead pre-pay phone. Another guy was really rudely and loudly complaining about Verizon and how he was an investor and wanted service and how unacceptable it was to have only one associate on duty. Then I stepped aside and told the kid to help the others... of course, that blew up in our face when I picked up a display ReZound and set off the store alarms. He didn't know how to shut them off and had to call the manager and then fumbled thre three key-rings to find the right key... he was 3mbarassed and sweating and just wanted to get me and the other crazy people out of there!

I didn't do it only because I'm too lazy to register. I think that's why it hasn't gotten any traction.

Everyone is free to do what they want, but please don't mention Android Forums in any way. Everyone got that?

I think that was pretty much drilled in already.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've lost my share of fosters, and though not technically "mine", it hurts. Losing your own has to be infinitely more painful, and you should be commended for having the strength to let her go.

Neither. Cellular Connection; and, no, it wouldnt ring up. He ran it manually somehow. The receipt shows the proper info but he struggled with it for probably half an hour until he finally said something about "doing it this way" and hoping he wouldnt get fired. :O

Unrelated to your post but I rarely have my phone on ring - how is the vibration for notifications?
(get your minds out of the gutter, this is a valid question) :D

I saw the phone In New York City. I do know that there's a green light notification on the bottom of the phone. The Samsung experience guy showed me that. Don't know about vibrate notification. I didn't see that. I assume it's there though.

OT Response to Elle:
Hey Elle,

My wife is an ER veterinarian, and having accompanied her to the hospital on many late-night emergency calls (I go with whenever she feels uncomfortable with a potentially wacko client), it is such a wrenching feeling to watch struggles like this unfold.

Thank you for being such incredible parents to Lucy, thank you for taking her to prompt expert medical care, thank you for getting the word out about Jambalaya. Lucy could not have been in better hands. Our thoughts go with ya.
