***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Finally caught up after a few days. Everything I'm about to say has probably been covered. I guess that's the nature of the beast.

Someone mentioned Verizon has an exclusivity deal for the iPhone 4s. That's not true. The two people I know who have them are on Sprint and AT&T.

As for Google Wallet delaying the release, if true, that's pretty annoying for me. I looked into it and would have to get an account with another bank to use it. Not going to happen. If Isis just dumps charges onto my Verizon bill, that's useless for me too. So it's like they are delaying for features I'll never use. I DO like having the option to use both so Google could add Wallet later and it would be acceptable to me.

As for Grimm, good show! We just discovered it and have enjoyed it. Have the two from this week recorded, just waiting for time to watch them.

It seems like my life consists of waiting for others right now. Waiting for Verizon to release the stupid GNex, waiting for Logitech to update my stupid Revue, waiting for Asus to release the stupid Transformer Prime. I see a pattern there, all Android. Hmmmmm.

To quote Inigo Montoya, "I hate waiting!"

Unfortunately, I generally don't use vibrate. The haptic feedback is excellent, though.

I saw the phone In New York City. I do know that there's a green light notification on the bottom of the phone. The Samsung experience guy showed me that. Don't know about vibrate notification. I didn't see that. I assume it's there though.

Thanks. If the haptic is good there's a pretty good chance the notification will be ok too. And it will take some getting used to the light at the bottom rather than the top like my Dinc

I think the ReZound or even the (shudder) Razr is a better choice for a non-tech user. Please understand, the Nexus (all of them) are Pure Google experieince, you don't have apps that hold your hand like on most phones (yes I know, bloat, bloat).

Think of it this way - if you were going to buy a new computer, would you want Windows 7 on it, or the newest, bleeding edge version of Windows 8 which you've never seen? Of course a computer nerd wants the latest and the greatest - figuring out the new software and learning how to use is part of the fun!!!

For a normal person, who wants, new, fast easy, and it just works....... bleeding edge ain't so great! This is the FIRST phone with the new version of Android. The phone has no buttons on it at all. Here is an example:

When you are at the home screen, and want to go into settings, you do this:

Hit the MENU button
Choose settings
Change whatever you need to change.

It was like that in Android 1.6, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc, etc - you hit that sequence without even THINKING about it.

You CANT do that in ICS and on the Nexus - there is no menu button - the way you interface with the phone is DIFFERENT now......

Is it better? Is it worse? Google thinks it's better, that's why they changed it, but the bottom line is, you will be learing a new way of interacting with your phone.

For some people, that IS the biggest selling point! For others, it wil be a huge PITA.

I'm not trying to scare you away from the Nexus, just know going in that its gonna be a like a new car, and when you go to hit the cruise control, you are gonna accidentally turn on the windshield wipers a few times before you learn the new layout and controls........

Hope this helps you decide.

Actually I would want the latest software on a new computer, but I understand the point you're trying to make. Of course, my dh works in IT so if I have trouble he always helps me out. I do get tired of hearing, "How many times have I showed you how to do this?" lol Sometimes it's just easier to have him do things that I would eventually figure out on my own.

I played with the GN a few days ago and loved it, but all I did was open the browser to surf a little. I just wanted to see how fast it was. The whole time I was playing with it, they sales rep was talking to me...setting an appointment that has since been canceled due to the delay, showing me accessories and seeing what else I would be interested in buying. I would love to hold it side by side with a Rezound when it finally comes out so I could see the difference.

I called a bunch of RadioShack outlets. One salesman said to me: yeah I have the phone. But if I sell it RadioShack loses its license to sell Verizon.

My mission is to do no harm. So I'm done asking.

Did he say you couldn't have it until the 15th? assuming that is the go to day for all vz stores and resellers. Am hoping to hear they will start selling it tomorrow instead. Hey, we can dream...

Lol, maybe you need to change your sig to:

Apple tells people what they want, Microsoft asks what people want, Google gives people what they want after waiting two months.

Hey guys,

I would lovee to hear your advice on this (it could potentially save me and countless others some hard-earned cash come the 15th).

We all know the $100 off and $50 off any smartphone/android phone mailers exist, but many of us did not receive them. Some said they will be printing them out, taking them to their Verizon store, and attempting to make them honor it.

What is a good plan of action for making this happen? Should I call the national sales line right now and say, "hey my friends got this coupon mailer - my contract is expired, why don't you give me one?". Should I do the same but with my local store? Should I just show up with the printout on the 15th?

I don't consider myself the best negotiator in these circumstances  so any opinions would be appreciated

I too am interested if others have tried this yet and had success. Someone said yesterday that the Verizon rep they spoke said this was a Midwest promo only. We should email Verizon cs to ask

So true. At this point all the hassle to try get one a few days early(hopefully) just isn't worth it to me. Plus we have football today, so today will fly by....
