yep, got the discount yesterday morning. if you look back at my previous posts you will see details. But in any case I got the discount with no problem. However someone (I don't remember who) was reminded to try to get the discount by my post and was informed that the discount is regional but luckily he was in the correct region.

Well, I don't live in the Midwest so I will probably get denied. It was worth a try though.

If this gets pushed back again I'll have no choice but to believe it has nothing to do with the phone itself or the internal power struggles (read: Google wallet) and everything to do with Verizon not wanting more competition for the precious Razr. As a customer of VZW for over 10 years I WANT to believe that is not the case, but with all the evidence WE have as consumers I can't see any other reason why this phone isn't in our hands

In the android police I have to smile at 'some heads may roll'. Really? VZW would really get that pissed at a few phones being sold when they told everyone this was the day and just before send out emails hoping everyone gets the message trickled down to them. RS and BB have dozens of phones to chose from and let's be honest 'this isn't the iPhone' and then include the folks on their day off come into work and are expected to be up to date on every single phone out there. I sure hope that VZW sees this was their error and these sales are just something they will have to accept afterall last I checked humans can't read minds and VZW doesn't speak theirs.

Blame for this phone being sold early falls directly on Verizon. Name one other product that is shipped to retail stores and is not available for sale within 1-2 days of being received. Name one. Obviously retailers are going to be confused because this does not happen.
If you don't want this to happen, announce a release date loud and clear so everyone understands.
This is exactly why people are calling this a botched release, and if any retail clerks or managers lose their jobs over this - it would be a travesty and Verizon would be responsible.

Just wait it out with us!! you will NOT be disappointed when it comes out and if you don't have it by Saturday just put your phone in your pocket and try not to think about it all day, haha. If I were able to get one these phones before the actual release I would be calling Verizon and telling them I have problem with my phone. It would be fun when they ask what phone I have and tell them the Galaxy Nexus

I love how passive aggressive we all are.

The new Facebook app is known to use up around 60% CPU when idle... plus it constantly pings for GPS. That could be why you're having really really bad battery life.

I use facebook through the web. and keep an old apk on my phone so I don't use the newer BS

FWIW I called 611 from my phone asked about the $100 rebate and its only valid for people who are upgrading and signing a new 2 year contract.

Separately, I asked if they are selling the Galaxy Nexus yet and the CSR guy said " it was supposed to come out on the 9th but due to diputes with Verizon Wireless and Google it is currently on hold.

They way I got to see one is the real reason I'm so angry at the way this whole launch is being handled...

Went to BJ's near me and as I walked in I asked the guy at the Verizon kiosk if he knew anything about the Galaxy Nexus, he said he has been hearing possibly a December 15th release. So I asked him if he has seen the phone or the demo unit was in, he said no, we probably won't have them shipped to them until the night before release.

So I do my shopping and I get in line at the checkout, I look over towards the kiosk and I see the guy showing the Galaxy Nexus to some girl...so I walk over and politely wait...so the rep looks over at me and I say, "Is that the Galaxy Nexus you have never seen?" and he proceeds to tell me he thought I was asking about another phone..

So anywho..I played with it for a few minutes...
It's big but it's light, it doesn't feel uncomfortable in my hand like the RAZR does. The screen is amazing! the software seemed snappy and the camera initializes and shoots fast.

Pretty much everything we have been hearing so far.

The Verizon Wireless rep flat out LIED to me, this is what Verizon has turned their reps to...liars.

Let me guess: The girl he was showing the Nexus to just happened to be hot. Amiright?

Following this thread is starting to make me queasy. It's in their system for the 15th, poof it disappears, disputes with Google, got mine today, don't have them in stock, don't have them in stock but their really in back, have them in stock, but can't sell, don't know what a Nexus is, wallet, 4G stability, $100 here, but not there, Xyboards are on sale but no one cares, only hot girls can see the phone, GAH!!!!!!!!

Okay, i just tried to do this via phone by calling big red customer service (800-922-0204). The lady I spoke to was very nice and tried her best to help. But I got nowhere. She claimed to have no knowledge of this $100 promotion. He got that off the forum. If they don't tell their own CSR's a release date they for sure aren't going to tell them that.

definitely. i simply refuse to use the facebook app on my phone. if you are set on using one, at least use FriendCaster. it is not nearly as much of a system hog as the native FB app.

strange to me that FB and twitter are the two largest social networking sites, yet both of their mobile apps suck. 3rd party devs seem to be doing a much better job of integrating them into the mobile experience.

Called Verizon to inquire about the $100 rebate since I DO live in the midwest and we've only had 4G coverage in KC for a month. Apparently not eligible, only have the NE2. Sad. So its not all of the midwest that is getting this unfortunately.
