Help Constant Hotspot Disconnections

Ok, I really need to know if anyone else is having constant disconnections from the hotspot. I have two phones and both of them are disconnecting frequently (sometimes up to 4 times in an hour). Most of the time, I have to do a complete battery pull for it to work again. This is totally unacceptable. HTC is blaming Verizon, Verizon doesn't know why. I would really like to know if it is a problem of the phone (software because both phones are affected) or the Verizon hotspot. I am definitely returning one of the Rezounds as that is the one that is dedicated for home hotspot use but I really don't want to return the one I use for phone use because other than the hotspot issue, the phone is great! I have gone through all the steps, Verizon customer service, tech support, HTC tech support, different settings, etc. I just would like to know if this is a widespread issue, THANKS!

I have had mine, in a certain session, continually drop out as well. I have used the hotspot so far about 5 different times since I activated it last week and really only experienced this on one of those 5 times of usage. I will probably use it for a good hour today so will be paying close attention again.

If I VPN from a laptop to work thru the hotspot, I see the issue within minutes as VPN will disconnect as soon as it detects a network dropout for security reasons.

When it happens, the data status icon (3G/4G icon with the up/down arrows) will disappear when the dropout occurs then come back eventually. Reboot doesn't seem to help.

It worked great for over an hour tonight, then all of a sudden intermittent connection again. Very frustrating paying for a service that doesn't work.

I have the same issue as well I think it is the LTE modem that HTC uses as this has only happened to me with HTC phones and not the droid charge i had for a while that uses a different LTE modem if the charge wasn't such a piece of Crap i would have kept it. I upgraded to the rezound and same hotspot issues as my thunderbolt.

How were your thunderbolt hotspot issues resolved? Or were they?

Thats the problem i'm having, it does not ever happen when i tether using pdanet over usb only when using the hotspot feature. Makes me very sad, i notice it the most when i try to watch netflix, makes me wonder if its something verizon is doing...

I have a video of the issue, but i guess i can't post links to youtube. oh well. I hope htc/verizon fix this soon.

Same problem here. Below is a screen capture from my PC's network utilization monitor while streaming a steady stream using my Slingbox. I've had identical results several times before.

It drops to zero, almost at well defined intervals, around 30 seconds. I get close to 2 MBS, then a quick drop to nothing, then a climb back, and repeat. I'm on 4G with a good signal. And it stays solid if I tether. Don't know why Verizon would intentionally do this. Seems they'd rather cap it at a slower steady rate.

My guess is a phone thing that uses the network at regular intervals and shuts down hotspot communications. Sounds like a software fix.

I'm glad I'm nit alone in this issue. Been having problems since the first day i bought it. Got the phone traded once. Factory reset, three different sim cards, two ticket numbers for the engineer, a phone call to HTC. Still same problem. Its frustrating to pay for a service that is not usable at all! Even then, adding a feauture thats broken. This really needs to be looked at.

Posted this also on XDA.

HTC is looking into this. Got another call from them letting me know that its being brought up and has been brought to the higher up's attention. They got my info down and are contacting me from 48 hours to 10 business. Glad to see this is getting looked into. Also notice that RAZR and Bionic owners are having the same issue. Hopefully they pressure VZW (if its the network/app that is)

Please let us know if anything develops. I returned one of my Rezounds because I really needed a good hotspot connection. I just got the Galaxy Nexus and so far no problems with the hotspot (yay)! I want to keep the other Rezound because I love it but I want the hotspot feature to work! I have another month (till Jan 15) to exchange the phone so please, if you hear back from HTC, let us know, thanks!

Just thought I would let everyone know who is having hotspot issues with the Rezound. I returned one of my two Rezounds for a Galaxy Nexus yesterday and since then I have not had one disconnect. With the Rezound, I was getting disconnected constantly and usually had to pull the battery so the hotspot would work again. So what I assumed after a week of trying to figure out the issue and exchanging for another Rezound, calls to HTC support tech and Verizon CS, etc., it is definitely with the Rezound. I am not returning my other Rezound because other than the hotspot issue, I love the phone. I needed at least one working hotspot for internet use. Just thought you all should know this!

That's only related to the actual hot spot connection being persistent. The issue I am having isn't with a hotspot disconnection, but 4G disconnect during hotspot.

I can definitely see the device that transmits the wifi signal interfering with the 4G radio. I don't see how a software update would fix the issue. I do see engineers performing an update that does a better job of masking the 4G drops while using MHS. Kind of like Apple pushing a fix that doesn't really fix 3G connectivity with the iPhone but reports signal strength more accurately (much to the chagrin of AT&T).

These are the problems that I would get and im sure im not alone. If it was hardware problem im sure everyone would be getting the same problem. It's not EVERY Rezound user since there have been some people that been using it with lil to no problems but there are more than enough with the problems. Whatever it is, I have till January 15th otherwise is going back to VZW. As much as i love this phone, I need for it to work for what I want and the hotspot for me is a must, easytether works great but I don't like the idea of being connected all the time.
