***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Well IF it finally comes out Thursday, I'm still planning on ordering online if it's available at midnight. Hopefully I can do overnight shipping and receiving Friday morning (when I'm off work :D).

FWIW (almost nothing) the one person I talked to yesterday that seemed to have any idea what was going on (at a VZW corporate store) said that it would be available "later this week", and "online and in stores on the same day"

Yes, I just called a local store. No updates and the person seemed irritated by me asking.

Today I called a store... they wouldn't even play ball when I brought up the Nexus. No, "it's coming soon" or "call back on ______"... but then I called *611, and got a pretty cool guy on the phone. I was panicking due to a rumor that the phone being on the iconic list would prevent me from upgrading to it, and I started out by saying "I know you can't talk about the Nexus, won't even acknowledge that it exists... but I just need to know about" blah blah blah. It seemed to throw him off his "scripted response" and he started talking to me like I was his friend. He told me that he's just as much in the dark as we are and that he hasn't had an hour go by without 12 people calling in asking about the Nexus. He said that all they were told was that the 9th is no longer the date, and not to sell the phone until the 15th no matter what.

It was nice to not feel like I was being lied to for the first time by a VZW employee. I know a lot of people are skeptical as to believe the 15th is real or not, but after today I'm starting to believe it. That doesn't mean that won't postpone again, but at least as of now, it's nice to have a date. Hell, it was nice to have the 9th last week. Take it with a grain of salt, but we're getting close!!!

Charging question :

Why does my phone act wonky when it is on the charger? The Phandroid app zooms in at a single touch anywhere on the screen. SwiftKey doesn't want to type at all. And notifications don't show up?? It's a Verizon charger.

OG Inc is incredibly finicky when on a charger not exactly specified at the right mA. Are you using the "green" charger from Verizon? It causes all kinds of touchscreen issues.

*611, pressed 0 immediately. Reason for call: Upgrade.

I said I'm calling about the midwest region (key!!) promotional discount on a 3G to 4G upgrade of $100. I was wondering if this can be applied to my account. She put me on mute for a minute as she looked up the promotion. She then found it and notated my account that I was approved for it (only can be applied at purchase). I inquired how the store rep would see the discount and she said the store sales person would have to check the notes on the account since they have access to the same system/notes she was composing.

I did the above yesterday, and redid it again today to verify it was noted. Worked first time both calls.

P.S. It apparently expires on 12/31.
Dude I called and said exactly what you suggested. The lady noted it on my account and said I would get the promotion applied when I went to the store!!!

Thank you so much. That made my day :D I love AF!
Gah, I wasn't so lucky. :( Apparently to be eligible for the promotion you had to be eligible for an upgrade between October and December of '11. I've had my upgrade ready since October of 2010. :( Oh well, I'll still try with the DL flyer.

Cheetara just texted:

I'm going right now to my boss to tell him I'm taking the day.
Awesome. Can't wait for Thursday.

I think you all are missing the point, the OMAP 4460 is rated for 1.5 GHz. It's already under-clocked, so technically its not being overclocked.

It's more like buying a Corvette with a chip to limit the top speed and you're removing the chip to experience what you paid for.

There were rumors that they couldn't get them stable consistently at 1.5 ghz, which is why its clocked at 1.2 to begin with.

I can't find any solid proof one way or the other. Seems to be articles taking both sides. Either it being under clocked for power savings, or under clocked for stability reasons.

Yup. I am. I use it as a supplement cause I have the external charger too and the one I had charging wasn't quite done. That'll teach me to forget the extended battery at home

Luckily things are slow at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Im already off that day.

OT: Come ski Jackson Hole! Shameless plug, as if we need one;)

Oh and Im not going to hold my breath, but Ive got a good feeling about this.

Jackson Hole is on my bucket list for sure. One day I'll be able to afford it...

Quoting myself to note an addendum: The very nice CSR I spoke to just now was specifically from the promotions department. She said that VZW typically runs training for any new promotions about a day before they're due to take effect. She suggested I call back the day before whenever the rumors speculate that the Nexus is supposed to release (she conceded that the system still does not have a definite date listed, but that Internet rumors are often accurate) and see if any new promotions involving the Nexus have been introduced.

Just an FYI for everyone. :)
