The 15th sounds really good now after i got a text from Verizon at 10:52am saying Congrats Your Elig for a new phone and to call an 888 number, Ive been elg since june and never got any text like this before so hmm kinda strange... getting excited!!
What's the text say, exactly?

Alright, which is it? Wed? Thur? Fri? I'm hearing too many different dates from you guys and girls. I'm assuming Thursday since that's when Verizon normally releases phones.

I think pretty much everyone is saying the 15th. But if you haven't followed this saga for long, please don't get your hopes up, stores were making appointments to sell the phone to customers last week only to have and call and cancel last minute.

I work at the mountain in the Ski School. If youre ever out this way PM me. It will be good to have some fellow Android Phans out this way. Plus the skiing is pretty good too:)

The plan is Jackson Hole or Big Sky sometime next season. I'm going to assume you would recommend Jackson Hole haha. With you're name, I'm surprised you're not based out of Colorado. Did you get your start there and head out to Wyoming?

BTW, I ride - hope that's not too much of a problem :p

I called Verizon again from the *611 and Upgrade option, let me just preface my experience by saying Verizon obviously does not know how to do business at all.

I was put on the phone with a CSR who I informed of the $100 4G promotion, I told her it seems it's going out to Customers in the Midwest and I'm trying to also get it, I'd be willing to sign a 2 year contract if I could get the discount blah blah blah.

She told me it's only going to specified phone numbers and only to customers in the Chicago area. I told her that I know that other customers that aren't in that area have been getting the discount and I'd like to also get it.

She looked for like 5 minutes for other promotions she thought I might be able to take advantage of and then told me she was going to put me on the line with a Customer Loyalty specialist.

"Reggie" gets on the line and tells me he has two options for me, he will take $9.99 off my Data Pak on every month for 12 months, and it will "extend my contract for one year" (I'm month to month, no contract) or he can offer to give me a free month of service and I would be discounted for one month's bill for the amount of $60 and that will also "extend my contract for one year."

I was just shaking my head on the phone at the pathetic trapping tactics they are having their employees use on customers.

I told him I'll take none of those and that I wasn't sure why he would offer to take $10 off my bill a month for 12 months when that equals $120 when I'm asking for $100 off the price of a phone and I'll sign a contract. He said he understand and that that was one of the options he could offer.

I told him I don't want either because I don't want anyone altering my plan because I have unlimited data and I'm not making any changes to my plan which may cause me to lose that. He assured me nothing would happen to my unlimited data, he "promised" me.

Naturally I denied both, then I asked before I hung up about the Nexus which I explained I was planning on upgrading to, I didn't ask for a release or about stock, I asked what my current upgrading price would be if the Nexus does indeed turn out to be $299, he immediately got very quiet and sounded as if I was asking him about a childhood bully who he was deathly afraid of.

He said he didn't want to say and he didn't want to tell me anything that might not be true. Sounds like VZW is cracking skulls on this release.

Keep trying!

I spent 20 minutes with a CSR while he made calls, spoke to his supervisor, etc. and he couldn't find the promotion either.

Then I saw the code and I called back, talked to a girl, and she found it with the code in less than 2 minutes.

Code is CH4GE.

I'm going to be on their asses all night about it. I want my $100! They can take the $30 loyalty crap away from me for all I care.

Somewhat OT

Now that it looks like the GNex release is imminent, I was wondering if someone can summarize all the potential discounts out there. Seerms like a lot have been thrown around lately. I'm grandfathered into unlimited data and have been eligible for an upgrade since August 2011.

Starting point: $249.00 with 2-year contract (correct?)

Discounts...

Total Price: $????

All of these people are still just guessing @ the 15th. I just talked to our VZW business rep and said:

Me: "any idea on the GNex release?"
Her: "didn't that release last week? Let me check"
Pause....
Her: "no information in our device guide currently on the release date, but I thought I saw something about it releasing last week, so maybe it has been delayed"

I think that is pretty clear that there is still no solid date.

Although, Negri electronics did say that they got their confirmation for their shipment coming in on the 14th. However, they could be saying this in hopes of selling more phones and praying that it comes out on the 15th and then lying and saying the order was cancelled again if it doesn't.

Who knows...

Just a friendly idea -

If you local sales rep is doing you a large favor on grounds that you keep it secret - maybe it's a good idea to not post it on the internet.

Just a thought. ;) :)

Lol it seems that concept has escaped most people during all this. Especially the guy that was lucky enough to get the phone, then uploaded the receipt with the guys employee number and store number.

CSR I just spoke with told me that you don't need a notation in your account or anything. She said it is a known promotion and if you are in the midwest and upgrading from 3g to 4g they will honor it in the store without a notation or coupon if you mention it. And if you have any problems you can just call *611 in the store and they will do it.

I just got off the phone and they told me the same thing. I said I was a little worried that the sales people in the store might not see my eligibility and she said if they don't offer it, just call customer service right there.

The conversation ended like this:
CSR: Ok is there anything else I can help you with?
Me:No I am just kind of waiting to hear about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus at this point.
CSR:...Ok is there anything else I can help you with?

I typed it exactly as follows besides the numbers. Been elig for a while (June 15th) and again never got any type of text like this! THat 888 number is not listed as a sales or customer support number the VZW website !!

The guy I talked to last week at Radioshack just called me back and said they will have the Galaxy Nexus on Thursday and asked if I wanted him to put my name on one so I can stop in that day to pick it up. Of course I said yes. Thursday at 9 am I will be the proud owner of a Galaxy Nexus. (I hope)

He also said they were told the delay was because of inventory issues and that not all stores got them in yet but will have them this week for sure. And that if anything changes he'll give me a call. The guy wasn't definitely nice enough to get commission from this guy. :)

So what are the differences between getting the phone at Verizon and Radioshack? Anything I need to be made aware of? As in if it craps out on me can I go to Verizon to get it fixed?

I think that shows it was more a "dumb rep" mistake than anything else. If it did release, don't you think he would have noticed it?

The fact that he didn't know either way shows that he's not very much on top of it. I wouldn't hang your hat on what he said.

I had this same message last Wednesday and I've been eligible since August. Received it once before sometime in between those times too. I wouldn't read into it.

Cheetara is not guessing. Neither is my rep, he told me verbatim is was confirmed to them again, like last week.

Cheetara was completely certain of the 9th because that was an internally confirmed date, there was no guessing. Just because it was moved back at the last minute does NOT mean it was a guess or hypothetical. Han has already said that she was completely surprised when it was delayed.

Hahaha sick! I also have a Reseller guy who said he would get a live model a few days before release so I could come in and play with that too. Still haven't heard from him either! If it really is Thursday, I should hear from him Tomorrow I hope!
