Charging question :

Why does my phone act wonky when it is on the charger? The Phandroid app zooms in at a single touch anywhere on the screen. SwiftKey doesn't want to type at all. And notifications don't show up?? It's a Verizon charger.

Come on BB, you already know, your current phone is jealous and knows you are cheating on her/him/it!! :) Does the same on my DX. ;)

Well I finally had the moment. After calling around to my local VW stores, which all basically said the same thing....phone isn't out yet and no idea when it will be released...I stopped by the Radio Shack on my way home from work.

They asked "Are you looking for a specific phone".....LOL....when I mentioned the Galaxy Nexus they were cool and chatted about it. Stating everything I had already knew, thanks to this thread, although I did know more. I asked if they had any on the floor and they didn't. I then asked if they had any in stock and she said they only had 1.

I asked if I could see it and she was more than happy to show it to me and let me hold it but they weren't allowed to turn it on. The phone looks and feels exactly how I thought it would, AMAZING. I said "WOW", the rep quickly said "Yeah I know, awesome phone isn't it?".

They then said what others have heard. They are just waiting for Verizon to say "GO" and they can sell it. I told her, as soon as you know I will come here ASAP and buy that phone from you.

Any ways, I am satisfied at least for tonight, holding my future love (Sorry my lovely wife), that's until tomorrow when I am like, "hey I want that now!".

TLDR: Got to hold the phone today. Felt and looked AMAZING. Can't.wait.any.longer.

Went into a local radio shack and asked about the nexus. They said we only have one do you want it... I said I'll take it. Everything was good until they tried to activate the sim card. The system gave them an error that the card didn't match the price plan. After several attempts at registering the sim card they had to call verizon and the jig was up...so close!

They were pritty pissed that the release was changed and that nobudy notified them.

Has anyone had success getting their loyalty discount date bumped so they can use it on a nexus? Can you even use it on a nexus? My loyalty discount is on 12/29 and I don't want to wait. Advise?

I would also really like to know what other people's experience with this has been. My loyalty date is also 12/29. I have talked to a few people from VZW online and on the phone and all the online people say you have to call about that. All the phone people say they absolutely cannot move up a discount date.

I find it kind or ridiculous that they cannot move the date 2 weeks. I thought I remember someone in the past saying that the loyalty department has a different phone number, but trying to search for anything in this thread is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Ugh. Stopped in at the VZ store by my house on the way home. Was up front that I knew the Nexus wasn't out yet but asked if they had any news. Guy said, "Was supposed to be out on the 9th but it got delayed. We're hearing before Christmas, but thats all I know." I asked if they had a demo unit I could check out and was told "We don't have anything we can show you." -_- My attempt at trying to fondle a Nexus to rekindle some excitement has failed, and was made that much worse by the fact that the CSR didn't even say the 15th. Bleh. Bummed and not feeling optimistic.

What is this $50 rebate you speak of?

On past phone purchases there has been a $50 mail-in rebate (to compensate for the $50 discount you get online)... all I know is that every smartphone we've bought from the local VZW retailer has had a $50 mail-in rebate (which they graciously take care of for us).

Called my VZW rep in Manhattan and now he's not sure if the phone is coming out Thursday. Unless VWZ has tightened up what the reps can say now. He still thought it would come out before the end of December. This is absolutely nuts...... Verizon could step in and take us out of our misery. I wish now I would of never played with one at the Samsung store...

Steven,

I just received a phone call from someone who is in the loop, and during the conversation they confirmed this Thursday for the Nexus.

It's looking very, very good.

Verizon just got back to me about the $100 off 4G promotion; the guy was nice enough, it was amusing that he said "I saw people talking about this on phandroid so it looks like this is becoming a bit of an internet rumor, we don't have any national promotions currently on 4g phones". I couldn't talk him up to anything else, he just mentioned the 50 dollar loyalty discount we have through the discontinuation of new every two. Unfortunate news, but I'll state again that he was nice enough about what he had to say, and it is good that verizon gets back to all of these requests within a day.

Shout out to Mr. Han Solo for providing the promotional code, I called again after reading his post and gave the CSR the code right away, she asked me to verify what the code was for and what the promotion was.

She said it was a point of sale promotion and nothing to apply to my account, I Asked her to make a note on my account that I should be getting $100 off a 4g smartphone when I go to pick one up. Told me to call again when I get to the store if they don't honor it.

Since the post is probably buried somewhere I'll thank your next post Han!
