***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

So... those of you making multiple calls... do you think Verizon CSRs add a note to your account every time you call? Like, your 5th call, the guy/girl answers, pulls up your file, and sees a note from your other 4 calls for the day?

Just curious, seems like they would keep a record, if for nothing else than to make sure that they have some info on the call without having to pull up a recording or something.

I haven't tried calling about the promo, but given my past experiences with Verizon CSRs, they only take notes when you specifically tell them to (side-note: if you want them to put a note on your account, it also helps to ask for their name a couple times, as if you're taking note of who you talked to).

Like I said, this Verizon Company store manager who I've been dealing with for a couple of years(my company has a business account with numerous lines) told me today it is definitely this Thursday and that the hold up was because of the 4g network problem, not Google wallet.

this actually makes sense cuz the galaxy nexus i got to use last week in store wouldn't connect to 4g. even though the area had a strong 4g signal

Just wanted to chime in about the 100 dollar credit.

Called 611 was EXTREMELY nice on the phone (took every effort in my body... I'm kind of a jerk) and she tried multiple doorway systems to find it. Listed under Chicago.

I told her how other people had it notated in their account. Said the only way she could see if it did apply to me was to actually order a 4G phone and the last page there is a page that says "see all offers" and in there are all the eligible offers for that purchase. If it happens to be there great. Recommended that I bring it up when I am checking out. As for those who have it notated, that doesn't mean it is applied. If it doesn't show up in that offer page it will most likely not apply to the purchase

So just saying, if you are one who got it notated in the account don't be too upset it didn't work out!

I hope it does apply to us though!

No go on the discount for me...the CSR was very polite and looked through "doorways" as suggested for CH4GE and was unable to find anything. He also looked up promo for "3g to 4g" with no success. Good thing is that I am eligible for upgrade for both phones...plus I have a $50 NE2 discount (I just found out) that hasn't been used on my account (plus the living social coupon)...so that is better than nothing. No luck on the CH4GE.

I would call multiple times. I just said I was inquiring about the 3G to 4G upgrade $100 discount, he searched it and noted it on my account. I didn't even have to mention the code. You have to get a person that knows what they are doing and don't take no for an answer. Good luck.

So, what's the story on the OTAs? Someone mentioned earlier that there was going to be an OTA released after the launch? Didn't P3 get one that supposedly really helped the radio? I know there has been some concern over reception, wondering if this may have been part of the issue.

I am not happy with how this has gone down, but, VZW loves to tout "best network" and very few dropped calls, they would naturally want that thing to be optimized as much as possible.

I just had the rep place a note in my account that I qualified for the promotion. The in-store people have access to the same system and will see it when I go to buy the phone when it launches.

Maybe I should do that. They both seemed to think I should be fine as it says "midwest" and I am TX. Not sure how that is "midwest", but could be I suppose.

I wanted to confirm what JRowMe is saying and add a few cents. I'm also located in the Chicagoland area, and the CSR was extremely helpful and tried for quite some time to locate the promo. I did everything that everyone else has done and was very cordial and friendly.

He was unable to find the promo, but he agreed to notate on my account that I would receive the discount. HOWEVER, he stated as follows: "I am virtually certain that when you purchase the phone, the salesperson will independently verify that the promo exists and that you qualify. I wasn't able to find it, but I will notate that you get the discount."

So, just notating does not guarantee anything, so it seems. We'll see on Thurs.

I think some people are getting confused. When I got my discount, I called and just said:

Hey, I am asking about a promo you have for an upgrade from 3g to 4g phone located in doorways.

I did not mention where I lived, nor did I mention the ch4ge code.

He found it right away and added it to my account. Since I am not in the midwest I don't think the ch4ge code works if you live outside of this area. These seem to be two different promos. So just say the bare minimum and let them do the rest for you.

Meh...I just want the damn phone. Too time consuming to bother with a credit that I shouldn't have been given in the first place. Just my opinion though.

I already have a $100 gift certificate for a past 4G upgrade and a $50 credit for something else,I will be happy to pay the difference,Just release the phone!

I have done exactly this three separate times and received three different answers, all of them ending without a notation on my account

it's the CSRs that are clueless

Hey all! Been lurking for, I don't know, a month now waiting patiently for the Nexus to release. I just tried to call *611 to see if I could get the $100 credit y'all have been talking about. It didn't work but I threw out the question on when the Nexus was going to be released expecting the same old answer. This time though the lady I was speaking with said right away that it will be some time next year.

I was kind of shocked as I've been optimistic about the 15th so I asked for a supervisor just to confirm this since I've heard conflicting reports. When the supervisor got on the phone he checked his system for a couple of minutes and came back to say all he could find is that it was coming out some time next year but didn't have a specific date. Take it FWIW, grain of salt, etc. Just kind of shocked me that they found that in their system. Still hoping for the 15th.

That's exactly what I said.
Too bad my CSR noticed it was Chicago only.

Of course! And giving your last SSN-4 and your name helps them validate your identity. You betcha the keep records.

I agree. I'm not going to keep calling for a promo that I shouldn't be getting anyway. I tried once, and that was good enough for me.

EDIT: Plus, as several people have mentioned, just because they note it on your account DOES NOT mean that they will actually apply it at purchase. ;)
