That'd be a fair assessment if they hadn't have released so many other phones with known issues. But maybe this one is different since it's such a highly anticipated release. Was it ever this big of a deal when GingerBread first came out? or Froyo?

Agreed. My last two devices were launched with plenty of bugs. Despite initial launch delays, it some of those bugs never got exterminated. I keep hoping VZW has figured it out when they tell us about their extensive testing process.

I imagine that depends on how crippling the bugs are...all the launch day devices I've acquired worked fine till I discovered a bug or two much later that ruins the experience.

I don't know about Gingerbread being as big of deal as this release. ICS seems to have higher visibility in the tech world and also the very fact that Verizon is supposed to get a Nexus device has it on a pedestal. The high anticipation for this phone makes it seem like they should care a little more for the well being of its launch but that opinion is not without bias. :)

I will tell you I am a little curious on how the information about the release is being disseminated... The Source told us yesterday that it was looking good for the 15th, then somehow less than 12 hours later a store manager already knows its not the 15th...

11th hour e-mail? I get the feeling we'll know more in just a few hours.

Which is exactly why Steven shouldn't be changing the title to THURSDAY'S THE DAY

After the whole 9th situation I just gave up on rumors. And if this phone is not out by this year I give up waiting for it and just pick up something else, this whole roller coaster ride is growing old fast.

I do not get what the whole problem is with releasing this phone. You would think since all the stores have it in their inventory that they would just release it already.

That and the fact that some people have actually been able to buy it and from all i have heard love it.....so I'm done believing this verizon is testing things and wants to fix problems crap.....

Ha, I wish, my 3 year old is STILL in diapers, driving us NUTS. We have tried everything, she just doesn't care (and I thought girls were supposed to be easier!)

That's not too bad. I couldn't remember if you had given ages. Most girls are easier. You got one that wants to do her own thing I guess.....good luck with that trait as she gets older. ;)

Morning kiddos

Morning

11th hour e-mail? I get the feeling we'll know more in just a few hours.

I have my doubts about that. This all stems from 1 person saying it's what they heard. I'm not saying it couldn't be true but let's wait out today at least on a quasi positive note. MmmmK. Thx.

Good morning Nexians -- potentially two more days until launch. If you think about it, when we wake up tomorrow the phone will be released tomorrow. Crazy, huh?! I can't believe we have made it this far.

Preparing my farewell post to you all. I can't wait to chat with you all in our lounge thread when this finally closes.

I have yet to post anything regards a date as I know so many are puked out over dates by now. At any rate, I am retired so I sleep when I feel like it (which is nice) but you do miss stuff.

The manager from the Corp VZW store I use had texted me at 9:33pm last night to call him. I didn't wake til 3:30am so I couldn't call til just now (his personal cell). I had had an appointment for Thursday morning so I was relatively sure it was bad news.

But I just got off the phone with him (yes, early I know but we are friends of many years). It seems the big focus now is to make 100% sure or as close as possible that all phones properly released are updated with their "new" update immediately.

That said, he had to push my appointment to Friday the 16th. He stated that was based on information he and other area managers received last evening about the OTA update not being ready for a Thursday morning release. In his words, they were told it was only a matter of hours difference and the "okay" could still come during the day Thursday.

The sales material for the in-store advertising and such wont be put up until Thursday after close and the first true sales day not actually begin until Friday. At any rate, take it with the normal grain of salt of course.

He summarized by saying that it was going to be a "soft" launch initially and that whatever the delay was from the 9th was being taken care of with the now almost frantic "must be updated" on activation. I am East coast and haven't read any of the 20th rumors so if true, that information wouldn't be available to him until he get's to his store.

Thanks for the info -- gonna check in with my source to see if he confirms this info since he texted me yesterday telling me to meet him at the store on Thursday morning.

Its kinda sad, in early November, The Source's info was treated like gold, and those who dared question it were gone after pretty hard. Now, because of Verizon's incompetance and total failure of even internal communication, even The Source's info has to be taken with a grain of salt, because it could change that quickly. I can't imagine how frustrating that has to be for him, as he really just wants to help us out.

Wait wait wait...this whole delay all stems from ONE person saying it's delayed?? Come on people. This is nuts. Multiple reps, managers, and internal sources have said Thursday and then one person says it's delayed and we all start doubting?? That's even more ludicrous than the past way of thinking when everything pointed to no release and one person said it was a go for __ date and we all believed it. I still have doubts about Thursday being the day, but I certainly wont doubt it even more because of one person.

OK. Telesales attempt 2 went better. The gentleman wanted to order it for me, but there was no SKU for him to use. He took my name/number and will contact me as soon as it is available. He even offered to do free overnight if it comes available on Wednesday.

What's the phone # you used? If you don't mind, that is...

Well with the father of Android hacking, Cyanogen, being from Pittsburgh, I think we might be one of the best represented city when it comes to the OS.

I was at the Verizon in Ross park mall the other day, and they asked me when the phone was coming out. This whole release is a disaster.

Wow didn't know our roots came from the Burgh!

The stores I have called have confirmed stock but no date...this release IS a DISASTER!

Yeah, she is independant to say the least. She is a pistol, just like her mama. But also can be as cute and sweet as sugar. I can tell I am gonna be in BIG trouble with her ;)

Yeah it seems like sources have almost given up or feel afraid to even guess. Or maybe they even doubt themselves. It's a shame.

I honestly do think that the 15th is the day, or the 16th. Even though it is a rumor, it just makes the most sense before the holiday shopping is over.

PC World says December 15th

The phone is out there! People have it and there are a ton of reviewers that have reviewed the phone. Hell even IGN reviewed the Galaxy Nexus and gave it a 9.5/10.

Well if you read the Phandroid article about the extended battery, the writer there also got some notifications of a delay (the date he was given was the 20th). Problem is, we are just conditioned to believe the most reliable info is the one telling us it is delayed again. Its been right what, 7 out of the last 7 times (11/3,11/10,11/17,11/21,11/28,12/8,12/9)...

I called this morning to try my luck with the CH4GE code. The person helping wasn't familiar with it, but did find it in the system. She confirmed it was Midwest only.

When I asked she scouted around and found one for the Northeast. Unfortunately for me, she said that people who weren't eligible for an upgrade were offered the promotion, and people that are eligible weren't. Despite a bit of whining on my part about "But that's $100, and the upgrade is only $30!" I only earned a very pleasant apology. ;-( I can see where they're coming from from a business perspective, though.

She did suggest I call back after the New Year, suggesting there might be other promotions that I could get in on. I asked "even retroactively?" She didn't really say yes or no, but just encouraged me again to call in January. ::shrug:: Pass it along FWIW. Maybe I'll try again later today or go into a store and see if my luck changes with someone else.

Good Morning Gnexers!

So NOW what's new? Waiting on an OTA release? Which may or may not be ready Thursday morning?

I tell ya, this has got to be the most cadorficized taffy-pull of a phone launch in history. Everything that can go wrong HAS. And possibly WILL.

The thin ice of hope I'm treading for Thursday is starting to crack under my feet... somebody throw me a rope!

I don't mean to question our "source" - I agree that this launch has been totally screwed by Verizon, I absolutely believe the 9th was suppose to happen.. but..

How well verified is our "source" - did Steven say how he verified this person? I mean.. anyone can say "hey yeah I work for vz corporate this is the down low.."

I'm just wonderin'

Could it be the manager doesn't want a flood of appointments on one day so he is spreading some out to Friday? Just thinking...
