***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hey Everybody!

First post here...I've been following for weeks and figured why not get involved.

So I spent a good portion of last night trying to get info. out of the CSR's on Verizon's site. While I (obviously) wasn't given any concrete info., one CSR did admit that "she believes" there will be a pre order before the release.

When are we expecting/hoping to see pre orders go live? After too many useless encounters with Verizon reps, I've decided to just buy online.

P.S. It's great to finally be part of the forum!
Welcome! If it releases on Thursday as all the latest rumors suggest, I don't think there will be a preorder, unless they start selling online tomorrow with overnight shipping available for delivery on Thursday (or after).

A good article on Droid-Life regarding whether or not the Galaxy Nexus is really a Nexus device. It includes info from a Google engineer:

Is the Galaxy Nexus a “True Nexus” When Attached to a Carrier? Depends on Your Definition. – Droid Life

As JBQ also points out in his clarification on yakju, he mentions that if you see alternate builds of yakjusc or yakjuxw (basically any form of yakju with extra characters on the end), just understand that Google is not directly controlling every aspect of them. In fact, as there are “per-country or per-operator software customizations” for essentially the same hardware, carriers and manufacturers are going to have final say in some of these software builds.

OT:

Have an awful metallic taste in my mouth. Took barbell out and still there. Ugh.

OT:
Have you recently started using a new perfume? That could be the cause. Weird, I know, but I got a bad metallic taste in my mouth when I started using a new cologne. It went away a day after I stopped using it. My aunt experienced the same thing with a perfume. Maybe it's just a weird family trait

I'll be "close-minded" if that means I stay drug free. People who use that argument as a form of peer pressure are pathetic. I've heard it all over the years - I haven't even tried a ciggarette. I'm a dying breed and "closed minded" because of it.

*rolls eyes*

You haven't tried a cigarette, but have you ever tried some Sour Diesel??

Haha jk obviously!:D

That makes sense, and yeah I was just trying to defend my point. Plus I don't like when people give me labels/names, good or bad. It's just a...thing for me. Like someone saying I am not a movie buff just because I haven't seen their favorite movie and someone saying I am close minded. Just struck a nerve is all.

OT:

No problem. I didn't take offense to anything you said, and if you read my stuff again I never said someone would not be a movie buff for not watching a movie. Everyone is close minded about something.

Have you ever had an advil, drank a cup of coffee, taken a cough drop?

Define "Drug-Free"

Drug free, free of things that cause addiction. Advil and cough drops aren't exactly in that list...narcotics on the other hand... Caffeine is iffy - but still infinitely better than cocaine. I even avoid taking any sort of asprin/anti-inflammatories. I also rarely consume caffeine. Only when I'm literally dragging my ass will I get coffee or something.

I knoooowwwww!:( That was the best episode yet IMO, but SPOILER ALERT
I just can't believe/hope they really didn't kill Graham
This show is as bad as lost for getting me worked up.:p

OT:

Spoiler alert for Once Upon a Time:

I know! I doubt it's permanent, but I think it's going to have to wait until they're back in Fairy Tale. I love all the LOST references on the show, though, like the kiss flashbacks.

What blew my mind, though, was Regina knowing exactly what was happening! I thought that she was just as much in the dark as anyone about her true past. I do think that Mr. Gold knows it all, too. And what the frak was he burying in the woods when Graham showed up?!

what if kate beckinsale walked into your house naked........just saying

Nah. You should've said Jennifer Garner. :p

j/k

I don't buy into the "throw away" mentality that is so prevalent today. I don't know when marriage stopped meaning anything for most people, but I don't like it.

Good morning Nexicans.
I'm staying home because I have a really bad fever... and what's just great about this is that my giant tests, projects, labs, and essays are all due this week :/ Looks like I'll be busy today (assuming I plan on going back to school tomorrow).

Anyways, we're closing in on the sacred day! :p I don't think anyone here understands how giddy I'm going to be when I go to the store and pick up this phone... wait a second, you ALL understand :D
Me, too, I'm that giddy already. You don't know how great it feels to have someone not only acknowledge the existence of our beloved unicorn, but to also reserve one for us..Yes, I am happy now!

No. But thanks.

And you're not alone in that. I get the same thing. I usually rely on scented lotion for the perfume effect. (didn't use any this morning so can't be that)

Exactly! Being close minded on certain things isn't bad. I hate when that is used as an insult.

I'm not open to the possibility of cheating on my wife. Does that make me closed-minded or old fashioned?

what if kate beckinsale walked into your house naked........just saying

I'm with Han on this one. Not even if Kate Beckinsale walked into my house naked.

I've found the Nicaraguan and Honduran are just as good if not better, you get what you pay for and just pay extra on Cuban's because of the forbidden fruit factor

/I swear I was in Europe when I smoked them!
attempting to start cigar talk

OT - Cigar talk.

I'm no expert, but, I heard once that many of the really good cigar makers from Cuba actually moved away because of Castro and the embargo. And now a days you can actually get better cigars from places like Nicaragua & The Dominican Republic etc.

Cuban cigars are more of a novelty these days. I smoked some that I got from the Dutch duty free store when I was in Kandahar and they weren't all that good.

I would encourage people to try the iphone. I think I have a pretty good feel for what iOS has to offer because I had an iPod touch, and currently have an iPad.

Yes, I feel that people who say they refuse to use the iPhone because "everyone has one" are close minded as well.

I have had every model of the iPhone and must say the OS is very nice indeed. The small screen on the device, for me at least, is the turnoff. Very toyish. If Apple would make a 4.3" or larger iPhone i would have one.

OT and might be a little preachy (I apologize in advance):
To each his/her own, and I do feel that you're right. Being close-minded about substances you put into your body is much more important than other areas because these substances have the possibility of causing harm, or being a catalyst for actions that cause harm.

Just bringing this up because I've heard many people preach day and night about drugs while being perfectly fine with anything a doctor prescribes. Just cause it's medical heroin, doesn't mean it isn't heroin.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Edit: and can you send me a picture the next time you are literally dragging ass :p

I know someone asked about "SDCard" (internal storage) read/write speeds on the device.

I'm sure cubans can't all be put under one category. Just like anything else, I'm sure some are really the best, some not so much..

Sorry about the non-description, I was talking about Burn Notice. And FWIW, I haven't seen any Star Wars, and I refuse to do so. Yes, I'll probably be the first and last geek you hear say that..

It took me over 20 years before I first saw the original matter-of-fact I think the first one I saw was Empire. As much of a Sci-fi fan I am, I have never been a fan of Star Wars or Star Trek. It simple does not appeal to me.

Maybe you have excessive iron in your system? I know a lot of women take iron supplements because of the "woman times" :)p), and it builds up too much and you, well, taste metal.
