Understandable, however if I can save some people from bricking their brand new $700 phones on launch day by telling them about my experience with the superboot batch file, then I think its relevant.

I won't argue relevancy with you. I will say that it will be much easier for people to find in the root forum itself. I would hope that anyone looking to root would look there before doing anything rather than in this thread.

Yeah it is a batch file. I dont know why it put the phone into a bootloop, I dont see how it could have been a result of user error seeing as it was just a matter of running the file as an admin but I wont rule my dumb ass out. :D I think its good that everyone does it the manual way to learn anywho. Just be aware that using that batch put my gnex in a bootloop which was fixed by clearing the cache and formatting user data. I hope it wont take more than that to fix for others.

I think I figured it out. The superboot is not just the insecure boot image but it also include an automated install of superuser files and such. I think that's where the incompatibility comes into question and causes an issues. Yep, manual way should work no problem, as well as the CWM method I posted.

EDIT: But as the mod says let's keep all root talk to the appropriate threads. I think this is valuable info that may indeed get lost.

Anyone know how much a Costco membership costs? I highly, highly doubt that they will be the first to launch the phone, but hey stranger things have happened. If need be, I'll buy a membership, but I have no clue what it runs. $50? more?

$100 a year. A but steep, but pays for itself if you shop there a lot.

Ah, geez... I don't even have one within 30 minutes of me, so I highly doubt I'd use it ever again (unless for another phone possibly). Let's just hope that Costco isn't the intial launch, with VZW following on Friday or something. But hey, that could be the "slow launch" they are talking about. Highly unlikely, but ya never know.
