So we've all seen the GNex with the little gold dots on the side, presumably for a docking station. Well has anyone seen/knows where to buy a clock docking station for the GNex? I was planning on using it as my alarm clock, but I would like to have it in a dock similar to the one for the DX.

Are the little dots only for the car dock?

After 2 years with my Droid's horizontal dock, I can't imagine going to vertical at night. So I'm looking to buy it too. But my concern is: will Nexus still fit the horizontal dock with the extended battery in it?

Time will tell, I guess...

My understanding is that the extended battery doesn't make the phone any bigger. It uses the same back of the phone, and the back is horribly thin plastic, so I don't see the battery pushing it out at all. Obviously I can't say for sure, but I thought I heard that somewhere...

I will be also getting the extended battery, and horizontal dock if/when it is available. Maybe if not through Verizon, someone might come out with a third-party dock.

While the stock back will fit (tight) over the extended battery the back that comes with the extended battery IS different.

Sadly, none of the landscape docks ever work with cases. I hope to the man jesus someone makes a dock similar to that Samsung Dock but for the Gnex in landscape mode with a case. Would be easy to do if you could adjust the height of the 3 pins themselves or lower the surrounding dock resting area itself.

Here are two that utilize the idea I am discussing, but just use the more universal mini-usb port for other Android devices.

Here is the Larger version

And the smaller version

Both of these are currently using the mini-usb ports. The cool thing about it is that on either side of the mini-usb male end on the docks, there are 2 rubber dimples that can be adjusted (height) so that if you don't or do have a case, it can be rested flush and not put all of the phone weight on the mini-usb port.

I might just go with that larger Philips for Xmas, but would be nice to see a Gnex variant. Although needs to be case compatible.

That's not exactly true, my OG droid has the seidio case and dock. It will fit with both the case on and off. Now for the GN they don't have a horizontal dock yet, just the vertical one. Maybe in time they will make one.

It was more of a general blanket statement. I'm sure it depends on the case as well as the dock. But 90 something % don't work.

I want one that will work with my Diztronic!

I was informed by the team at Samsung responsible for it's development.

It's active, no question about it. Just used a fluke on the contacts. Appears to be a charging port only though. 33 ohms tested across some of the pins.

If it wasn't active, there would be no resistance, and no common ground.

I can confirm this as well. Just tested the 3 pins myself. It smells like troll in here now
