'Twas the night before Release Day, when all through the store
Not a creature was stirring, not a manager on the sales floor;
Accessories were hung on display racks with care,
In hopes that the Gnex soon would be there;
The Members were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Ice Cream Sandwiches danced in their heads;
And OTD in her nightie, and Steven58 in his cap,
Had just settled down for a brief late-night nap,
When from his computer there arose such a clatter,
Steven58 sprang from his bed to see what was the matter.
He woke up his Mac to see what was causing the ruckus,
In the back of his mind thinking, How much longer can Verizon fail to be forthright in their communications?
The screen was lit up with emails and alerts,
With new messages and chats coming through in fits and in spurts,
When, what to his wondering eyes should appear,
But a viable confirmation that Release Day was near.
It wasnt a rumor, and it wasnt a flame,
It wasnt some blogger playing silly reindeer games,
It was credible information from a reliable source,
That the Gnex had left the warehouse and was following a course
For Corporate stores and Best Buys, and theyd arrive in the morn,
And in just a few hours a new Ice Cream Sandwich Age would be born.
On, Han Solo! On, BabyBlues! On, woodraskam and EarlyMon!
On, Khatmandu! On, nj02vette! On, scottg96 and Cincybearcatfan!
Get to your bikes and get to your cars!
Now dash away! Dash away! Follow the stars!"
To the stores they drove and they pedaled and steered,
Their excitement growing as the moment neared,
When they would open the box and activate their new toy,
Causing them to weep and to cry, full of joy.
When the managers opened the doors to the store,
Steven58 and OTD thought back on the lore,
When this phone was only a twinkle in their eye,
And now the time of release had finally drawn nigh,
And it filled Steven58 with glee as he thought of the phone,
This great new device that is bad to the bone,
But he also felt sadness, not because of this crappy prose,
But because the release of the phone meant the ***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release thread*** would soon close,
A place where people came to banter and chat,
And see where the status of the Gnex was at,
A place where the mods were helpful and kind,
And reeled things in when they got out of line,
A place where Members exchanged information,
Discussed their thoughts and expressed anticipation,
A place where Verizon has been much maligned,
But now the phones released, thats all been put behind,
For now tis the holidays, a time filled with joy,
As Members all play with their shiny new toy.
And Steven58 sat down at his Mac to change the thread status to Locked,
A smile came to his face cause he knew that thread rocked,
And as he shut down his browser and turned out the light,
He thought, "Happy Gnex to all, and to all a good night."
