***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Still waiting on a couple answers if anyone feels like answering! Thanks!!!

2) Should I allow them to open and activate, or wait to do it myself?
- I've never activated a phone by myself, but if they don't make it mandatory to have them do it, I'd kinda like to be the first person to hold my particular device. Is there any other upsides or significant downsides to either option?

4) How much money should I bring?
- Does anyone know if it'll be more than the $299+tax? I have no discounts or anything to be applied and I won't be ordering any accessories or extras.

5) Is there anything I should do to my current phone, a Droid X, in preparation of switching over?
- I know all of my apps will be available once I sign into my Google account on the Nexus. I don't care about old text messages or pictures. Anything I'm forgetting? How do I know all of my contacts will transfer (some are Google and some are device only)

*If these have been answered while I was drafting this post, I apologize. I'll remove any questions that have been answered as I did with questions #1 and #3. Thanks so much to any of you that take the time to help lil ole me out!!!

Allow them to activate it, just to save the hassle, but keep a close eye on how they treat your baby and speak up if they're too rough. If you can't do this, just tell them you're in a hurry and you don't have time for activation and do it yourself.

Bring at least $350, I'd say.

I have some news for those on a buget like myself. I just called Verizon and asked the rep on the phone about the $100 promo. Said he hadn't heard of it. Told him I was upgrading from a 3G to a 4G. Gave him all the data that I learned here...that it started March 17th and ends on Dec 31. Well to make a short story longer he found it and said " yes since you are due an upgrade you do qualify" He noted it on my account which is all he can do. In order for me to get it I must call them tomorrow and order my upgrade by speaking with a rep and they will apply both promo my $50 to upgrade and the $100.

That was the good news. The bad news is I will get my phone by Saturday but I will save an extra $100!!!

Just to check I called the corporate store and they both said the phone is being released tomorrow and that I need to order directly from Verizon and have it sent to get that $100.

Just wanted everyone to know. Can't imagine what it would be like to be at the store tomorrow and be able to get the phone but not able to get the additional $100 off.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! But I'd rather pay as much as it takes (within reason) to have it ASAP rather than wait for a lousy $100. Don't get me wrong, for those on a budget this is absolutely great to have this option. I'm not rich by any means (I think I have $412 in my bank account, and that's before I buy the upgrade), but after going through this crazy "launch" debacle for the past month, $100 seems like a small price to pay for immediate satisfaction. Especially considering how easy it is to spend $100 nowadays. Heck, that's a tank a gas and a couple packs of smokes for me...

But again, if you're patient and don't want to spend $300+, then this is a GREAT option to have!!!

VZW can say goodbye to a 10 year customer. They will give absolutely no discount. Enjoy your GNex!

often times they dont willingly give them, but the right csr in the right mood can get it done for you. dont give up hope, just keep calling back 20x if thats what it takes. or call *611 and press 0, then say cancel service when prompted, they will get it done

Thanks Han! I guess all these people that are speaking so highly of you are right! I know we didn't really get to know each other during our time here, but I've really enjoyed reading what you have to say. I look forward to communication in future threads!

Does anyone know how long it takes for to run through the whole transaction of buying this phone? I have a meeting at work at about 10am and work about 15 mins away from the Best Buy I plan on purchasing the phone from. I plan on being there the second it opens and purchase it. Do you think it takes more than 30 mins, does it depend if I get a rookie working there? Thoughts plz?

Here is my closing post. I'll make it short and sweet, ok maybe not so short. ;)

I was a fairly active member on the Eris forum a while back, but hadn't been back to androidforums in a while. Then I started lurking on this thread a few weeks ago. Finally I had to speak out as I felt people were just getting too worked up about these dates and they kept slipping over and over. I wanted to remind people that nothing was official until it was official. I was glad to bring a bit of balance to this thread. To those of you that listened to me and understood where I was coming from; thanks. To those of you that didn't want to believe what I was saying; that's a good thing. It's always a good thing to have optimism and hope. Anyway, I'm glad to finally be proven wrong. I knew it would happen eventually, I'm just glad it was today. To me the Nexus on Verizon truly is the holy grail of phones. I've been due for an upgrade since last January and I refused to buy anything but a Nexus. I'm glad I waited.

There's really just one thing left to say:

TOMORROW IS NEXMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

2) It's easy to activate on your own...but also nice to walk out with it working...your call

3) Where did you go?

4) bring 299 plus tax (unless you want to help someone else with their purchase)

5) Hope someone else can help

Thanks! Want to come to Pittsburgh and wait in line with me? I'm not looking forward to sitting there by myself, but hopefully my excitement for the phone will make the time go quickly. I'm VERY curious if they'll be a lot of people there or not.

Corporate Store opens at 9:00AM, shooting for 8:00AM just to be on the safe side. When I called earlier the lady told me about 10 people had called earlier today asking. I am however doubting 10 people show up more than 1 hour early to get the phone at least hoping /cross fingers.

If all else fails ill go to work and order it there.

I've learned so much from every one of you, and will still need your help once I get this beauty in my hands. So I'll be looking for all of you!!! This forum was the first thing I checked in the morning and the last thing I checked at night! It's going to be so strange not having it here any more...but we will meet again!!!
