Help Showing addresses from People app

Hi,

If I go to someone in the people app who I have an address for, the address shows up with a little icon next to it. It used to be that I tapped this icon to see the address in google maps and I could navigate etc. However, it now opens up in the Locations app, which I don't like. I think its happening because I finally gave in to the Locations app bugging me every time I charge it in the car to download maps etc. That seems to have done something to allow it to take over.

Does anyone know how I can set the people app back to show locations in google maps? Don't see any obvious settings..

Cheers,
Al.

If you head to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> Locations -> Clear Defaults, does that help?

Sadly not, but thanks for the tip. Maybe I need to delete the map that Locations downloaded, as that's the last thing I did which might have prompted the change. Any ideas where that might be? Looking at the folders etc but nothing jumps out..

Cheers,
Al.

Got it. A quick google brought up some similar posts on the XDA forums, and pointed me at an app called "Select other map for HTC" which gives me a choice of map provider when I click on a contact's address and allows me to set Google maps as the default.

Does the job nicely :) Should have googled a bit more last night before posting, sorry about that!

Great - glad you found the solution... thanks for sharing. If anyone else has this problem in future, they are more likely to find the answer now!! :)

Don't worry about it... the important thing is that you got your problem sorted!
