My current battery usage - 4 days on battery and 63% left

4 days on battery with obvious light use. 63% left. Display on time 1h30m, display 11% of battery use. Voice calls about 20 minutes. 3g often left on all day other days i never used it at all. Wifi seems to use a lot more battery as it seems to use more of the Android OS. So i rarely turned it on.

I should say i have the 2000mah battery from Samsung. Very impressed.

go back to work tomorrow so usage will increase drastically. My battery usage is pretty consistant too. the top 50% lasts about as long as the bottom 50%. So in theory this would be about 10 days and 3-4 hours of display time until i hit zero.

So if you complain about battery life, your battery is either a dud. Or you have your phone set up wrong.

Try playing any game made by Kairosoft or actually, ANY game or emulator from the market place. I guarantee your battery will go from 100% to 0% in under 3 hours.

When the phone is idle and not used it will use about 30% battery a day as I have news feeds etc set up on it.

I have a hard time believing my phone on stock battery would use that much battery so quickly. But I dont play a lot of games nor do i do it for a long time. I have watched a 3 hour movie and was left with about half battery. Auto brightness is all i ever use.

Maybe you are right though. I know a lot of games take full advantage of the phone. Though i always leave system battery saver on. Without any noticeable adverse affects.

Not watched any movies but i've spent ages on Youtube and thats usually ok, doesnt really sap the battery despite the fact its streaming data.

Games on the other hand pretty much burn your battery out. You can see it a lot on game reviews left by people on the marketplace. Most say its probably down to the fact these games are not optimised for dual-core phones but i'm yet to find a game that is.

I could probably make mine last 3-4 days if I had it on low brightness and didn't use it as a smartphone. Then again, I could make it last a year if I turned it off!

i get my phone down 40% a day with quite heavy usage, on days of light usage i get less then 15% down and i can easily make it more than 2 days.

if i don't use my phone for a few hours it will barely drop 2%.

99% of people are using their SGS2 for the purposes it was built. The other 1% of people probably shouldn't have gotten this phone (there's plenty of mid-range ones out there).

I think the phone can last if you don't use it like a smartphone
A waste though.

In standby, (like at night with data off), I only drop 1% every couple of hours. SO leaving the phone like that would see it lasting for 200 hours or 8 days or so. So if use it for calls only, with no games, browsing, wifi & data, I think it can last about 3 days easily.

When I went overseas, and didn't use the phone for calls or browsing, it was at 60% after 14 hours. And that was because I was using it as a music player on the bus tour. So yeah, it can last.

Although 63% after 4 days is unbelievable, even with the larger battery.

Downloaded Juice Defender on standard settings, signed out of Skype, turned off GPS and dimmed Display Brightness down to about 20%, on my SG2 and have noticed a huge effect on battery life. Down to about 50% after one day of low to moderate use. Would have been down to around 20% by now without these changes. Estimates only, sorry to the scientists out there.

Hmmm, you're using an extended-capacity battery, rarely turn wifi on and apparently turn 3G on and off manually? I'm happy you're happy but personally I couldn't live with the inconvenience - to me it's your phone that is set up wrong.

I love my phone but I hate it's battery. It drain way to fast and most of the time I don't even use it. It's idle during work and I check some stuff at home and I need to charge it EVERY day even if I use it at minimum and I have Juice Defender on agressive.

Juice Defender does not work for everyone and I find that if I actively control my connections, it is actually better.

If the battery is draining so fast during idle, the possibility is having a rogue app that prevents the phone from sleeping. Try comparing the screen time with phone awake time. That will give an indication. Seriously I really don't think the battery is that bad for SGS2 when you are talking about what it is being used for. It is comparable to any phones and possibly better. Use it like an old nokia, and it would last for days like apparently the OP is proofing.

Have to agree with the last poster that the battery in the SGII is more than decent. I use my phone just how I want to, internet over 3g while at work or out and about and using wifi when at home. Plenty of texting and phone calls and it always lasts the full day. It is very rarely below 20% by the time I go to bed and put it on charge. I do at times switch of 3g or wifi when I am not using them but do not do it all the time.

I also do not find it drops it's charge on idle very much.. it can remain on 100% for 5 or 6 hours after I unplug it. I always consider that if it lasts a full day on one charge then thats perfectly acceptable.

Just testing it out yes. This is while I am at home on days off from work. Typically I use the phone hard and get below 50% every day. And I use it as a smartphone should be.

When I had old nokias, apps would turn data on and off as needed, that was smart.

Now, the users have to be smart, and turn it on and off when they need it, which to be honest, isn't that hard, as you can do it at the touch of a button!

Leaving data on, or using an app to automate their phones, doesn't make the phone smart, it means the app is smart, or the user is lazy or both.

My phone lasts one to two days on heavy usage and at least 3 or 4 if its over a weekend and i'm using it just as a phone. Old news.

My phones battery is like my car's fuel tank. I stays at 100% for a long period of time but once it starts dropping, it is like a rock in a pond! I rarely can get more than one day of use before it dies. Maybe I need to root and get some custom rom that saves me some battery...

They're called smartphones because to call them "phones" would be inappropriate.

My galaxy s2 is my:

- phone
- calendar
- alarm clock
- Email/SMS/Facebook/twitter client
- navigation device
- torch
- camera
- portable games machine
- portable web browser
- music player

To call something that can replace so many devices a phone would be absurd.
