Anyone thinking of returning their Gnex over 4G issues?

While stuck at work the only thing I usually use my phone for is to watch Philly sports teams through my slingbox app on my phone. On the Thunderbolt I could use the 4G Switch app and force LTE only. I'm stuck at work now with my new Nexus and I can only get 3G which the Slingplayer App does not like. I thought this phone would offer me more flexibility but it seems it does not. I hate to return it but I have no option since I can't force LTE. Anybody think there will be an app soon to fix this. I'm also thinking my Nexus antenna is weaker than my Thunderbolt because at least the Bolt would pick up a 4G signal most of the time.

I'm seriously thinking of it. I'm really disappointed with the radio and its 4G reception. It reminds me 100% of my Charge and that's what I was initially afraid of.

Some people said it had a new radio in it. Well if it does, the performance is no different than it was in the Charge.

I just got back from a mall where my wife and I had dinner. I know the mall well and the Rezound that I returned prior to getting the GNex got solid 4G throughout. Not only did the GNex lose 4G frequently, it also lost 3G for a time!

I'm really bummed about this. I am glad I tried the Rezound before the GNex because it did give me a benchmark and the GNex is not living up to that benchmark. :(

Maybe a bit quick to "jump to conclusions". You haven't even had the phone for a half of a day....

Its a SAMSUNG phone and EVERY newer Samsung phone has weak radios compared to HTC phones. The Nexus S, S2, Charge and now this one. Verizon can look into it all they want, its not a network or a software problem, its the good old Samsung hardware. Having said that, I love my S2 and don't have these issues in my area cause I have towers all around.

Regarding the dropping 4g issues, I experienced the same thing with the my RaZR-rent a phone. So I'm guessing they haven't completely resolved the LTE issues, I highly doubt it's the gNeX's radio thats tweaking out. Give it some time before tossing complaints.

btw: loving my GnEX, it smooth, screen is amazing. People is a great way of integrating contacts with social networking. And the 5mp camera is outstanding, it'll fit perfect as my point and shoot along with my DSLR for upcoming trips.

Whats more fun than video calling my girlfriend on her GnEX? NADA!

Same thing with my Bionic. My Nexus has been good all day though so far. No way I'd consider taking this back its easily the best Android phone I've used imo

My 4G reception has been very poor compared to my Thunderbolt as well. (Can't believe I said that out loud) I sure hope there'll be a fix.

Also I'm kinda bummed how the screen looks blue-green when viewing even slightly off angle.

And, how the hell do you refresh pages?

Definitely adjusting to ICS. Phone is so smooth and fast. I'm going to give it the full 14 days, but I am concerned.
