Mine works fine! Even receives live TV through Dish Remote Access :D

My ONLY issue is that Nexus' BT 3.0 doesn't want to play well with my BT 2.0 A2DP headset. I can do everything but pause/play... for that I have to take out the phone and do it manually.

If THAT'S the only "problem" with my phone, I consider it a raging success :)

Sorry if you're having other problems that can't be resolved with a setting or two, but as posted: there are plenty of great phones out there to choose from.

Here is my analysis:

Is battery life great? No. Is it unbearably bad? No.

Is the camera the best camera out there? No. Do I need it to be the best camera out there? No, I am satisfied with the picture quality and have a DSLR when I need better.

Is 3G reception bad? I haven't completely dropped my data connection since getting the phone.

Is 4G reception bad? It depends how you look at it. People here are so concerned about the numbers. In my opinion, the numbers don't mean anything, it is the user experience that matters.

My OG Droid gets around -70dBm in my living room. My Nexus gets -85 to -90dBm in my living room. Why should this concern me if the user experience doesn't suffer? I haven't dropped a single call, and my data connection is insanely fast. I could care less what the number is when I am getting results like this:

Now, if you don't feel this way, that is completely fine with me. I could care less if you return the phone. But I think it is completely unfair to call people "fanboys" because they are experience minimal or no problems with their device.

Every smartphone has some issue, this is a fact. If you're looking for a perfect phone I doubt you'll find it.

The biggest problem I've had with mine was the bootloop trying to get it rooted and that was when everyone was figuring out the process, other than that I haven't had one issue (battery life is similar to my other Android devices, No random reboots AT ALL, quick to boot without locking up, 3g/4g signal is fine, and it is much faster than my previous devices, Droid, EVO3D, Bionic.)

Obviously there may be some lemons out there if an exchange doesn't help out then good luck with crapple.. no way id give up 4.0 for iOS now coming all the way from 2.0 and not trying to be a "fanboy" at all.

I am also having some issues with the handset. I however agree with OTD and am willing to keep it and see if i can get things figured out.
On my first full days use at work, i had NO connectivity at all :(
Phone worked and got texts OK but no email or web ???????????

It is my first day with the phone, FAR too early to give up on it. Take a look at my speed test a few minutes ago............my Droid X does well at home. Oh well.........imo they will fix it soon :)

and compared to the bionic this thing is a dream!

Now cmon, the Bionic is not that bad once its got LauncherPro or something else other than that stock launcher on it. The only big issue for me is the 4G/3G handoff sometimes that drops data which requires an airplane toggle but it always comes back for me. My Nexus hasnt had this problem at all so far.

Not really. If you look around the biggest complaint is the signal issues people are having. The battery is secondary, but as I said before the burn in period isn't even close to being done yet. As far as your other issues go, I'm not seeing those.

Which version? GSM, I can believe.

CDMA/LTE, I can't. Again, same db's with all of the other android devices in my office at my desk. This is actually looking at the db's, not the bars on the VZW version.

Also, the battery doesn't need any soak time.

You just need to give the android os enough time to collect battery stats, which is usually a few full charge cycles. This is common knowledge. It's funny when a new rom comes out and people complain about 50% battery drop in 10 mins. But tons of people come back.... "oh, well 3 days after a full cycle, and I've only used 10% battery in 3 hours" or close ot that.

Op obviously has his mind made up. Now the facts are debatable, but I think that most have been covered.

Just went to a store to get an exchange and was told I need to bullshit with a tech on the phone for an hour (thats how long the cue was ATM) telling me things I already know, and running useless tests, before I can get a swapped handset. Really icing on the cake.

I'll attempt to call now and see what they say......

You're an early adopter of this phone - the earliest of adopters. You're bound to experience problems that will, in short order, ultimately be corrected by the manufacturer and/or carrier. Personally, I've decided to weigh all of the pros and cons from what I read about this phone prior to purchase - if I do. Currently, I'm having difficulty simply coming to grips with the sheer size of this thing. It dwarfs my Incredible and it may be more screen than I need. So - I'll wait and see for now.

As far as your battery problems go - I think that you haven't given it a fair chance - you really need to do at least three full discharge cycles before judging the battery life. Your initial battery experience is bound to suck due to the battery not being "broken in" and because you're going to want to play with this thing ALL the time until the "new-ness" wears off. Give it a little more time is my advice.

my bionic sure was that bad, adw home launcher made it worse. had a laundry list of problems with that thing. worst phone i ever owned, and turned me off from moto permanently.

This is why I don't pay attention to opinions, good or bad, until a phone has been out for a few weeks. You can't get a legitimate idea of battery life owning the phone for a day. And even signal issues should be evaluated over the course of days or a week rather than 24 hours.

The fact of the matter is many of these issues are common with all 4G LTE phones, If you want to go back to an older 3G phone, that is fine, but there is no perfect phone, or close to it. The more powerful the phone, the more speed you can download data at, is always going to consume more power than older phones.

I am shocked at all the haters out there! I don't know if I'm just overly transfixed on my device or what, but I couldn't be happier with it. Sure, some things aren't the best available, but I never expected them to be. If it had the absolute best of everything, it'd probably be $1,500 brand new and $800 with an upgrade. The camera, while not perfect, is at least 10x better than the 8MP one on my Droid X. I've already taken over 100 photos (just playing around with it) and have some awesome ones, especially the panoramic ones, to show for it. I don't expect my cell phone camera to compare with the Nikkons and Sonys that are $600 by themself... it's a cell phone. I like to use it to capture memories that I wouldn't normally be able to capture unless I carried my expensive digital camera around with me all day.

I also have not lost 4G coverage since I walked out of Verizon. I live 10 miles from a major city...that's probably a pretty good reason. Those of you who live out in BFE and then complain when your reception sucks, make me LOL. Go buy the sticker antenna (that does actually help despite some harsh criticism) and hope for the best.

I haven't had the wifi issue, so I can't really speak to that... but I'm sure it's not a permanent issue. A lot of the problems everyone is having are almost guarenteed to not be a permanent issue.

Lastly, and in my mind most importantly...(and I apologize in advance for all caps):

DO NOT SIT HERE FOR 3 WEEKS AND COMPLAIN THAT YOU JUST WANT VERIZON TO RELEASE IT NO MATTER WHAT AND THEN BE SURPRISED WHEN THERE ARE A FEW BUGS TO WORK OUT!

I truly hope those of you that are so "fed up" after 24 hours do switch to the rotten fruit so you can go gripe about the MANY iPaperweight issues they have and leave us to enjoy our phones!

/end rant

What I am testing tomorrow on a 500 mile run to Fla is the GPS and if it will hold a charge, gain a charge or loose ground while navigation for long periods while connected to the car charger. There was an HTC on sprint a while back that would loose ground on the charge. Even review sites reported it.
If this looses it will go back period.

Today's stats. And yes, it charged to 100% in a little less than 1.5 hours. Mercy.

gn_ss_bat_hist.png

Wait, it would lose battery while on the charger? Because it was trying to keep up with tracking you, or what? Sorry, I just didn't really understand what you meant. Can you reword it for a newb please?

EDIT - the HTC I mean...I know you haven't tested the GN.

Basically, you would lose battery power even if it was on the charger during navigation. My Incredible would do this if it wasn't on a good charger. I used my Nexus today for navigation for about 30 minutes unplugged and it lost about 15% of it's charge in that 30 minutes. I don't consider that to be too too bad. Can't get a real good read on the battery initially yet though.

Wow. Really? This phone has been nothing but exceptional for me. I have excellent 4G coverage. I am getting 21 down and 13 up + that is with unlimited data...Boo-Ya. I don't think I will ever use wifi again since those are close to the speeds I get from UVERSE's top package @ 65 bucks a month. Apparently you have never had the DINC. So, I am use to terrible battery life. The Gnex has been an upgrade in the battery life department. The screen is gorgeous, everything is silky smooth, and it feels really nice to the touch. Stop whining about the camera. If you want professional pictures get a real camera. NO phone camera is in the business of replacing real cameras. Sure it is one of the weaker points of the GNEX but not a deal breaker. It will take some time to iron out the bugs in ICS and the phone itself as with any new tech platform. Give it a couple of months then come back and post.

I have to say i havent experienced one problem you mentioned. Trust me i am no fanboy the reason i got the nexus is because my incredible was getting old, i really want a wp7 but verizon wont get off their butt and get one anytime soon. That being said i have no problem talking about the nexus problems but i dont have any you mentioned. Because of work i have had my share of android phones and the first couple of days is always like this. Battery issues, if it bothers you that much reset the phone and dont download any apps for one day and see if you have the same results, i doubt you will.

Don't these discussions happen with every new release of the latest, greatest technology? Some good units, some bad, and all the problems hit the forums. It's hard to generalize a phone after 2 days.

I won't be owning the Nexus, because I don't have an upgrade for awhile (oh well!). Congrats to you early adopters.
