Looking at the Seidio Surface...is it just me or can you not see where the case snaps together? My fascinate Seidio case snaps at the half way point. I'm looking at their pic on their website:

seidioonline.com

sounds like your Fascinate case is similar to the Seidio case for the Droid Incredible which snaps halfway up the back of the case.
This is what I had and loved it so when I moved to the Droid X, I immediately ordered a Seidio case and when it arrived, I noticed the design is very different.

on the Droid X, the case does not snap halfway up the middle, the "top" piece (screen side) is one piece and snaps onto the back piece using small clips along the side of the phone.
I found this style a bit inferior as those clips are very small and therefore very brittle.

Can someone confirm whether the Nexus case is similar to this design?

I just got the Otterbox. First time I have ever had a case. I have the standard battery and it seem my case is just a bit longer than the phone. So if I shake it I can feel it slide back an forth in the case. Anyone else have this problem or did I just get a bad case?

Oh I forgot to add. The screen protector on mine has a slight blur to it. When it is not on the phone it is not crystal clear. Is this normal too?

I would definitely exchange that. My otterbox fits perfectly. I can't even tell the screen protector is there. Hands down the best case I've ever used. Wouldn't even consider one of the cheap ones.

I went Diztronic with XO skins. The volume buttons in the Diztronic case are wayyyyyyy to sensitive. Took a razor blade and cut that part out, works perfect now! :)

btw, it does work with extended battery

I love the Diztronic, but the volume buttons are almost unusable in it. Kinda thought about cutting that part out too. :p

Exact combo I am using. Good idea on Razer to Volume area. Both are en route through UPS coming within a day or two. I did a ton of research and hand chose these 2. XO skins looks superior in almost every category, and the Diztronic Matte black case is just my style.

When you guys get your casemates, incipios and seidios, please post your thoughts here. Any other alternatives?

I have the diztronic one and I like it, but would prefer a hard case.

I'm leaning toward the casemate's, but am not sure. I don't like the fact that incipio's doesn't cover the top and bottom well. I also don't like seidio's snap together case. I had a couple for my droid back in the day and eventually the "snap" part wore away and the case would not stay together. Finally, I went with just the backing, but eventually it became loose as well! Just my experience...

Just a quick shot in here. I haven't looked too deep, but..

I have yet to decide on a case. I had a Seidio Surface on my Bolt with the holster, love it. But, I'm also one of those people that like having an option for a car mount, without having to take the cases off my phones. I also see the 3-pt contact on the side of the phone for that ever-elusive official car dock, but, that definitely is a case-less mount. I just hate having the charging port on the end of the phone if it's in Landscape mode in a grip mount.

So has anyone heard any rumors, seen any shots, etc. of any mounts designed to work with a case on the phone? I assume any case will eliminate the 3pt, but maybe I can get lucky..

Maybe the just need to make a right-angle Micro adapter so at least the cable would hang straight down, not coming off the end before pulling down.

Has anyone tried using the OtterBox with the extended battery? I have the extended battery and really want to use the OtterBox as my case, but wasnt sure if it would fit over the extended battery. Thanks!

Otterbox + Extended case definitely works I have it on mine; otterbox is a solid product; definitely on the bulkier side but that's what you have to sacrifice if you want ultimate protection!

you can see slight casting differences. the extended batt is convex in shape

To people worried about having a case and a car dock, you can do what I did with Seidio. I had a surface case on my incredible, and simply purchased an extra holster for it. I epoxied the holster to an old Sirius vent mount, and then snapped the phone (with Surface case) in facing out. I had to modify the holster slightly by drilling a hole into the catch so I could plug my earphones in and sanding down one side so I could plug in power, but overall it was pretty simple and looked great.

I'm assuming you can do the same with the Otterbox cases.

I got the otterbox one today. Not sure if I like it or not yet. It's really nice and well built, but it is bulky, though I like that because the phone is so thin I need that extra grip.

Have to give it a few days and see what's what. Glad to hear the extended battery works with it as well, because I'll probably pick one of those up.

The only thing that does suck with a case is trying to find a workable car mount. I don't need to use it constantly, but I typically use it as my gps. Might just mean I start using a normal gps again instead of pulling the case on and off all the time.

Hey P M do you notice any movement in your otterbox with standard battery? Is your screen protector a bit hazy or blury and not crystal clear.

I haven't tried the standard battery with the otterbox, but would think it would be fine seeing as that was probably original design intent for the otterbox case. The otterbox case also has a slight 'give' within it's plastic locking tabs, i had to forcefully snap some of the edges with the extended and i can see that the locking tabs are not 100% in their correct position but are still in the 'locked' position, so I think standard batt will be fine for sure. The difference in height is very unnoticeable unless you were to put them side by side like i did in the picture, even in the picture it's hard to distinguish the two.

The screen protector on the otter box appears to be integrated into the upper/front portion of the case (not sure if it's replaceable). It's thicker than a screen protector you stick on the screen (i also still ordered a screen protector to add in addition; it's pretty clear, though not crystal clear like eye-glasses for example. The plastic shield reminds me of the plastic sleeves used to protect a baseball cards. Does it take away from the overall brilliance of the screen? It probably does as would any screen protector, but I'm pretty sure the effects are negligible or well-worth the added protection.

With many phones, this will work, as long as you don't mind having the cord sticking out the end of the phone, if you're mounting horizontal. However, there are some models that it just doesn't work with. My Thunderbolt, for example, will only go in the Surface holster face-in. The way it's molded, it just won't work outward. I'd be surprised if the Nexus would work that way either, since it does have that curve to the phone's lower area.

I guess it also depends on where you have your mount um..mounted, as to what kind of strain your power cord may have while mounted. I usually have mine up in the lower area of the windshield, so the cord does put a decent amount of strain on the port, and over time, I can image it may cause issues. If I had it near the vents, and the cord coming out at the same height, it probably wouldn't be nearly as concerning.
