Interesting.
I have a pre-order with expansys-usa and I hope the customer service was wrong in jdbaker82's thread. I'll keep my pre-order and maybe just maybe we'll get lucky and there will be some in the brick and mortar shops next week. The good thing about expansys-usa is they will not charge you until they get them in and ask if you still want your order shipped.

My Amazon order still says that it will arrive after December 25 and nothing more. Oh well. Good that you know yours is coming, NoNamer. You'll need to let us how you like it once it arrives!

same here. This is 2/2 that I ordered from Amazon where I feel like they don't really keep up with things for preorders. I always assumed that going with the big companies is the way to go.. maybe not so much anymore :/

This was/is not an Amazon issue IMHO - this is 100% Asus botching it. Amazon cant deliver what they were not shipped or promised to be shipped.

My amazon order updated today

Estimated arrival date: December 22, 2011 - December 29, 2011

that is a hell of a range... 7 days... but hey, it is ON!

(I am not a Amazon Prime member so no fast shipping for me)

Lock, what was your order date, and what did you order, if you don't mind my asking? I'm afraid my order may be botched. I ordered a 32 gb champagne on the 22nd, and that is what my order says looking on their website. My order still says estimated delivery date for me to receive is January 5. However, I just noticed that if I use the Amazon client to look at my order, it says I ordered on the 23rd. I am a Prime member, and early on was given a free overnight upgrade. Looks like I'll be calling Amazon on Monday if I don't see a shipping change.

I have two on pre-order. One ordered from Best Buy and one from Amazon. Both pre-ordered on 11/22 and both Champagne, 32GB. Amazon is now giving me a range of Dec 22-28. Best Buy used to say Available for shipping on Dec 18, or something like that. Now it just says backordered. Hopefully one of them will ship soon so I can cancel the other one.

Hahaha, will do....this is probably just a coincidence but I'm wondering if this has anything to do with me leaving TigerDirect a nice/stern message asking them what the deal is with my pre-order and BAM, 2 days later I get a "Your order has been shipped" email...wonder if they just shipped a shell or something

So Best Buy has so called exclusive rights for first 30 days or whatever and other companys are shipping out on 16th and its now the 18th and no Best Buys even ahow a ship date in their manifest? I dont get it

Where did you hear that BB has exclusive rights for 30 days? I've been perusing these forums like a stalker since ordering my Prime, and I've not read that one before. Regardless, I'd say if the Prime ends up in the hands of some Amazon, Gamestop, or other customers this week, that this would surely be an incorrect understanding.

100% agreed... correct me if I am wrong, many of us PO with Amazon before BB even opened their PO. Plus Game stop had them to play with so.... exclusive my a$$ I'd say.

Registered just to share this....received an email from Tiger Direct, pre-ordered on
11/22/11...shipped on 12/16/11 via UPS and slated to be at my front door on 12/20/11....

Po' ed the champagne Prime with dock, but only the Prime has shipped

I call BS they must have made a mistake if they are saying its shipped looks like it has officially been delayed because of the Wifi issue that was brought up a week ago and denied.

A number of speculations have emerged on the possible release schedule of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime and that this will supposedly be postponed. Earlier reports have indicated that Asus (TPE:2357) supposedly confirmed the release schedule of the tablet and will not be postponed anymore.
However latest reports have raised the possibility that the release schedule of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime will be postponed due to some adjustments that are needed for the Wi-Fi connectivity of the device. The standards set by the company were reportedly not met and the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime will not be released into the market until this particular issue is addressed. This piece of news reportedly came from an unnamed source.

This latest report is supposedly consistent with an earlier report which indicated that the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is facing a problem with its Wi-Fi connectivity. Even as Asus has indicated that it will deal with the issue. The solution to this particular issue facing the Asus Eee Pad Transformer was not specified by the company which resulted to questions coming from some industry watchers.
However some observers have indicated that Asus reportedly confirmed that the device will still be released according to schedule on December 19. This was reportedly indicated by Asus following inquiries about the issue and its effect on the release schedule of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime.
This confirmation has shown that the company is steadfast in releasing the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime according to its schedule. Asus is reportedly unyielding with the release schedule of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime on December 19. This comes as Aus is reportedly aiming to release a perfect device into the market.
However some observers have speculated on the possibility that the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime will not be introduced into the market during the set date of release although this remains to be seen.

That part of the story I've put in bold seems to say it all. We've all read of these speculations, and it appears that perhaps the first small batch released to Taiwanese customers may have had some issues, but that these issues have since been resolved. Regardless, we'll most certainly know more as this coming week descends upon us.

Problem is that all units will apparently have weak wifi range due to the metal design and no plastic window for the wifi antennas. Not me guessing, but Anandtech doing a follow-up review.

BUT worth noting is what they also said here, so we hope that accounts for something..

"It turns out that the Eee Pad Transformer Prime features WiFi antenna diversity. We've talked about antenna diversity most often with reference to the cellular chain on Apple's iPhone 4 and 4S, but here it's present on the Prime's WiFi. There are two antennas on the Transformer Prime, one located on either side of the front facing camera."

plus it seems like they suggested they had issues with 2 and it was corrected on #3 and stated they understood the 3rd tablet was the retail version (the one we should get).

I guess we won't know until we get our hands on them :)
