...and I removed CIQ only to have the entire OS force close every 10 secs after rebooting because the OS kept trying to start a service that was missing (presumably CIQ). I had to pull the battery and put the phone in download mode and reinstall the stock ROM using Ordin. I wasn't considering using a custom ROM until now

Nice, my research turned me to T-Mobile ROMs too... Glad to see I am on the right path as I am new to ROMs and was nervous about the TM conversion... Hopefully we see CM9 on the Skyrocket.

I thought I read that CM7 was not compatible with the Skyrocket b/c of LTE and the processor?

This!

I was up until 3:00am trying unf***k this. Coming from iPhone where I was pretty experienced with jail breaking and hacking the phone and being an Android n00b I was lost. Wish I realized I was trying to recover using Windows running under fusion instead of booting right into windows. The recovery just kept hanging up and I didn't want to interrupt it.

are you all that worried that big brother is going to swoop down on you and record your thoughts and such? i could care less if they are tracking me on there. I do nothing illegal on my phone so let them

Honestly too, this is nothing. If 'they' wanted to spy or see what your doing they have many other ways of doing this. your being watched right now if they wanted to. There is no getting away from the all seeing eye. "Novus ordo seclorum" :)

Yeah yeah Agent Smith, we all know about that one guy that wanted to go BACK into the Matrix. But I ask you: Where would Zion be if Neo never took the Red Pill. I'll tell you! We would have never had a kick a$$ movie! So there, some of us like to feel we are in control or at least have a choice. Yeah yeah Agent Smith, loss of privacy maybe inevitable. But for now CIQ ain't on my phone, but its on yours LOL! Guess who the squids will come to first.

Oh yeah, want more movie references. I think Android (Google) is the real life version of Terminator's Skynet. Even the new Droid Razor commercials say the phone is "self aware"! I wanted to never get a droid phone but the iPhone 4S was such a let down for me and the jailbreak method at the time was tethered (deal breaker). The discover of CIQ just confirmed my suspicion (although iPhone has it too). CIQ has to be stopped! "God wills it!" - Kingdom of Heaven (another movie, can't remember the actor that said it)

To disable carrier iq put this in a file on /sdcard or something and run
Note; pasting from phone not sure if it will appear correctly.

Once that's in a file, with root run it.

Run voodoo carrier iq app before and after to verify

su -c "setprop service.iq.active 0"
su -c "pm disable android/com.carrieriq.iqagent.service.IQService"
su -c "pm disable android/com.carrieriq.iqagent.service.receivers.BootCompletedReceiver"
su -c "pm disable android/com.carrieriq.iqagent.service.ui.DebugSettings"
su -c "pm disable android/com.carrieriq.iqagent.service.ui.ShowMessage"
su -c "pm disable android/com.carrieriq.iqagent.client.NativeClient"
su -c "pm disable android/com.carrieriq.iqagent.stdmetrics.survey.android.QuestionnaireLaunchActivity"

Where did you get these instructions from? Would you have to run this script everytime you rebooted the phone?
