Some of you may remember i was a stones tbrow away from dumping this phone altogether, but reading more and more posts made me change my mind. First of all, let me.show you.this:

Impossible. Right? No. Bull? Not a bit.

Now, this was with light to moderate use and an extended battery, but I DID use 4g and wifi on and off for most of the day. The phone itself isnt as much of a battery hog, the problem comes from its faulty RADIO. (Yes i said faulty, deal with it)

What i did was actually simple. Disable ALL connections to data, 3g, 4g, and wifi. The phones radio is weak, and is constantly scrambling to find signal anywhere it can. Shut off all your data if your not using it, and youll start to enjoy this phone a whole lot more. Reception still sucks at times but its a lot better as of late. Not sure why.

Secondly, get the extended battery, no exceptions. I thought it was a gimmick at first but its a definite life saver. It MUST HE CALIBRATED. Period. Charge, die, charge power off, die, repeat. Do this 4-5 times. Yes 4-5, no less. I thought that was the biggest load of crap, but i tried kt in desperation and it works.

There are still a ton of bugs with this phone, I'm not denying that.. but this cures a.major one until we can get an OTA with some better radio drivers. Hope this helps, and hopefully we'll see some results before jan 15th or i believe verizon wi have a lot of gnex refurbs to go around.

Edit: and hopefully we can get some working autocorrect.

Does anyone know of an app that automatically toggles LTE on/off when I fire up the web browser. I'd really only want 4G speeds when I'm surfing or watching a video. Does Tasker do this?

I don't know of any that do it for you yet... But it takes (in my experience) about 20 seconds to go from 3g to 4G or the other way around, that would get very annoying every time you opened browser

you will get max 5 hours screen time , depending on how much you spread that out you may get some long battery life. but you wont be getting anymore than that.

And also , any phone that needs all data / wifi to be disabled should be returned (and i have a galaxy nexus) , what is the point of that.

Right now with light use im sitting at 12h59min and 66% of stock battery left. The battery drain seemed to get better when i turned off touch sounds and lock screen sounds as someone suggested. Also I dont run with NFC on cause I have no need to atm and the backup to googles servers is off. Needless to say Im happier now than I was a few days ago when this stuff was on and I lost 4% battery if the first 15min it was on and hadnt touched the phone

it's not the screen, it's the radio.

I was at home almost all day yesterday, and I toggled wifi on and off about every hour or so, and used the phone the same in between.

The battery usage results were hugely different. I could have gone all day on Wifi, but alas, I actually paid to buy a MOBILE handset.

On my last charge, I was at around 31 hours before plugging in, and had about 5% left on the batt. I didn't disable anything. I did leave wifi turned on the entire time, so that whenever I was at home or work, it would auto-switch to wifi. Not sure why anyone wouldn't do that anyway? 4G and the display are what kills the battery life, which should not come as a surprise.
