Root Installing BB v 1.0

Okay so i rooted my DROID using the SMUpdater and am currently running sholes mod 2.05 but with everything going on between that and then ive been watching Pete's bugless beast rom ive decided that i'd like to switch but i dont wanna unroot and then re-root my phone to do that. and i have done research on how to do it but still need a little help (yes im a noob) so my question is can anybody tell me exactly what i need to do to switch over?

any help would be much appreciated :)

follow petes instructions for nandroid backup. Basically format. All cache and data then advanced nandroid restore and selet everything.

You will lose all current data but this will ensure a clean install with all the apps and files from bugless beast. I know when I did sholes last week wifi tether was broken. Petes has always worked with every update

I'm sticking with SM 2.0.6..

I tried 7.8/7.9.. lost root of course..so I went back to stock and rerooted the hard way..all my other backups are too cluttered. At least I finally learned a bit about adb:)

I'm going to hack in the live wallpapers and things I want(no problems with root that way).

Only thing keeping me from Beast 1.0 is the kernel. I like 1.2GHz plus Steve's fixes that the Sholes rom has. if Pete implements them again I might give it a shot.

I had never had issues with Pete's stuff but I am still trying to figure out what the mess of 7.7 - 7.9 was. I have 1.0 and it is looking much better.

Did you actually lose root or were you having issues with busybox? Busybox got all effed up with the previously mentioned roms...but those issues seem to have been corrected with 1.0 I just wanna know why no 1.2GHz support anymore...that was stable for me???

Just tested out GPS on V1 with Nav and works like a charm... even loaded all my starred items nice and quick. You have to download and install Maps but all the better.

Also wifi tether works great!!. :)

Nice job Pete!!!.

I'm sure you answered this a million times...but what's with the screen name? I mean, I would understand if you were on an Apple forum

 I was feeling frisky the day I joined the forum.... like everyone else we have bouts of frustration with our beloved phones..

I guess in retrospect I should have waited to make nice with it before I created my account... :D

Non the less it's still just a bunch of letters... ;)

Gotcha. You just see so many "DroidRocks" type screen names...I just was curious. Doesn't bug me any...it's a phone, I'm was just surprised to see you on a forum talking about how GPS "worked like a charm", etc. and you sounded happy with your phone :)

Actually I lost all root access, nothing worked at all. I even tried to reroot using the superuser update.zip.. nothing worked. You probably know by now, but it was a problem with the v1 live wallpapers mixed in with BB. Now that v1.1a is out, Pete could probably put the live wallpapers back in..

No idea why on the slower kernel. That is one of the things that turned me away from 1.0, not to mention no more t3hSteve fixes.. I can live without the CPU reading, as even at 1.2G with a bunch going on, my Droid stays within a acceptable and surprisingly low temp range.

I've been there. There was quite a learning curve for me and I came close to introducing my Droid to a sledgehammer a few times. Thank goodness for sites like this, cause I would have missed out on the greatest cellular experience I've ever had.

And the bunch of letters line is so true.

My first root was a few days ago, BB .7.6.. (and its running perfectly, I am only OC'd to 800.. ) but if I wanna go to 1.0, should I just do the update.zip method or do I need to go the nandroid route?

Are there real differences between the 2 ROMs?

Pete keeps a change log in a link just under the newest updates that tell what was changed in each version. When I had 7.6 I was able to run 1ghz smoothly.

The biggest diff from 7.7, .8, and .9 were the addition of Live Wallpapers. 1.0 removed them because some were having issues w/ them.

Btw, shouldn't it have been 8.0, not 1.0?

Has anyone looked at the ROM 2.1 BB 0.3 yet? I am *severely* tempted to go to that as I am sick and tired of the latest 2.0.1 ROMs not playing nicely anymore....

AllDroid - View topic - [ROM 2.1] Bugless Beast V0.3 (2/21/10)

I tried it when it first came out but not since. I just installed "Ultimate Droid 2.5" for a change of pace. I just can't stick to any rom for more than 5 minutes it seems like. Do you realize how many times I have reloaded my apps and set up my email?
