ASUS's official statement:
"ASUS started filling the inventory pipelines this past week for our new Eee Pad Transformer Prime and will continue to do so on an expedited basis for the foreseeable future. We will reach normal inventory levels in January for the North American market based on current orders and forecasts. Based on forecasted supply schedules to our valued partners we expect pre-order allocation fulfillment to occur shortly and online or in-store availability in the very near future. We will continue to work closely with our partners to fill customer orders as quickly as possible."
Well i was pissed, frustrated, etc .. mainly because Asus failed to come out and tell us anything at all, especially right before Christmas!

But Endgadget put this up, i guess i cant be mad anymore :(

I'll give asus until the beginning of January to be able to walk into a store and buy the color and GB size I want.

If that doesn't happen then I will just stick with my iPad until CES and I will see what samsung has brewing with the rumored retina displays ect.

That said. It doesn't matter to asus. I was in best buy the other night and people were buying the original transformer. They had no idea what a transformer prime even was. I asked them and they said " never heard of it".

Us nerds are the minority.

Very true. I went into a Gamestop and they had the Prime on display. As I walked up to it there was a kid playing a game on the galaxy tab next to the prime. I said, "Oh, sweet! They do have it." Then began to fondle the prime. The kid said, "what is that?" Of course, I accidentally let my nerd out for a minute and told him, "the first quad core tablet." He just looked at me like I had 3 heads.

You've got to be careful about unleashing your inner nerd.:D
You can scare small children and women if you are not careful.

Jeeeezzz! I guess I really AM a nerd....even though I'm 69 years old. Ha ! Who wooda guessed???
I've been aware (and waiting to get my hands on) the Prime for months now.

I guess I should've suspected I was an early nerd since I was programing my HP-41CX back in the 70's. Ha !

Yea,....I'm really a nerd, I'm really a nerd, I'm really a nerd.....LOL ! Cool ! (Oh yeah,....do people still use the term 'cool'?) Hahahaha

Here's to ALL the nerds in the world. A Singha toast to you all !

This brings up an interesting question. Why are they not marketing the SH*T out of this right now?

There is no bigger buying season of the year. WTF???

They should ramp up productions, ramp up marketing, and take this entire Tablet industry by the horns!

But instead, 9/10 people have no idea wtf a transformer prime is.

I'm surprised! I wander around these forums assuming that I'm probably the oldest one in the room, but you've got me beat by about 4 years.

So let's start telling these youngsters what it was like to boot an operating system off a roll of punched paper tape, but only after you'd hand-toggled the binary boot loader code into core with the front-panel toggle switches, and...

And 45 years later, I'm still writing code, only now it's Java for Android apps instead of FORTRAN for some old IBM or DEC minicomputer.

Good to hear from ya....fellow 'nerd'. Yeah, I guess with me it might've been hereditary,....you see my mother was doing payroll on IBM machines at Hunters Point naval shipyards during WWII and I'm pretty sure she was using 'punch cards'. :D

Age knows no limits on being a nerd/geek, LateNiteMike. I'm 53 and a Solaris system admin, and even being on the computer all day, I'll still come home at night and drool all over my screen searching what I can about the beloved Transformer Prime. lol. Good thing I have an understanding wife. ;)

Uh,...I don't have one of those 'wife' thingys, but I'm happy to hear yours is understanding.;)
I guess the Geek nomer surely applies since I use my 'Appy Geek' app almost daily. :D

As noted by other posters I've been surprised (disappointed?) noticing that even 'Appy Geek' hasn't had many (any) articles on the the release of the Prime. As has been noted...it just doesn't seem like there's much really going on in with regards to marketing it. It's a great device, but it looks as if it's going to be left for only we 'nerds/geeks' to enjoy. In a way that's a shame because it deserves to be a mainstream device.
Asus marketing is holding 'the ball' and they need to do something with it.

Anyway, I'm over here in Thailand and searching for info on how and where I can get my hands on one for my very own but not finding much as yet. It seems the first batches will be headed for the US and then the UK, so it looks as if we'll be waiting until sometime in Q1 of 2012 for ours. That's a bit ironic since they're made 'next door' in Taiwan.
Maybe the upside will be that by the time we get ours they'll be shipping with ICS.

Well, I thought I would update this post.
I'm a happy nerd since I got my Prime a few weeks back. I did the FW upgrade to ICS the second day I had it and I'm quite pleased with the whole package. I got the Grey (Amethyst) color, 32 Gb, and it came packaged with the Dock. I'm spending many hours with it and now my laptop sits idle most of the time. I'm enjoying the device and I'm quite pleased with it. I have the Multi-Picture Live Wallpaper app installed and I love seeing my high res photos of 5 different Ferrari models on the 5 different screens. The display is great, and ICS is smooth. The keyboard dock is a big plus and it helps me easily transition from my laptop.
Overall I love this device and I'm very satisfied with my decision to purchase it.

My experience echos yours. Haven't picked up my laptop in two weeks and I couldn't be happier with this device. I'm sorry to those who got bad units, but mine has been stellar.

Ditto. I ummed and ahhhed for ages before getting my Prime, mostly because of the problems some had. Now I have it, the GPS is a write-off (as expected but not a worry for a tablet as it stays at home) but WiFi is fine, and no light bleed on the screen. Overall though, wow this thing is fast when compared to Galaxy Tabs etc. The keyboard, while not essential, makes tapping away at those long emails a doddle, and the gfx on the games are incredible. Very impressed, but can see how those who required GPS might be upset.
