$50 off any phone with new two year

^^that's what I had hoped for (out of contract for 6mos now), but it didn't work for me. Pisses me off that they won't offer an incentive to get me back into a 2yr contract.

If you aren't in a contract you should be treated as a new customer, you may just have to play a little hardball..

Tell 'em "look, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way. The easy way is just give me the d@#n rebate. The hard way, i'll cancel my service today, and then sign back up today.. You pick.."

Tell who? It's a web only deal and you had to put in a promo code. Hard to haggle with a website. And the hard way is a good method to lose your phone number. You'll have to port out and come back later. Time intensive.

All customers--new and old, receive the two year pricing on a device and whatever rebates. Existing customers receive an additional credit of $30--100 depending on their price plan.

So existing customers actually get a better deal than new customers. Not sure why everyone thinks new customers get a better deal.

The 30-100 that you talk about must be with a NE2 credit (which was used on my wifes phone). I tried the store and calling into cust/web service. No luck as they said it was a web only special code.

Yea, I could threaten to cancel my number, but don't want the hassle of losing my number.

Did think about adding a line, then transfer phone to my number, then cancel the line, but wasn't sure if it would work.

Either way, not overly excited about the current phones (at least not enough for a 2yr contract).

Now that's interesting, but I don't think that'll pan out the way you want. The added line is tied to the device you opened the line with. Even if you move it elsewhere, you'll probably still pay the $350 ETF.

Yes, that is a new every 2 credit on the primary line. My bad.

I wouldn't add and cancel lines as the other poster correctly pointed out that the etfs can be a nightmare to deal with.

CMO does do special offers all the time though. Surprised you haven't received anything from Verizon.

Don't call and threaten to cancel. It is everyone's favorite tactic to get their way and as such, it is losing its effectiveness as a negotiating tool.
