I was having a problem with Easytether disconnecting every minute or so on my Epic 4G Touch (Galaxy S2). Easytether was working fine a few months ago. I thought maybe it was because I was using a different laptop with a new version of Fedora. Tried Easytether on my Macbook Air with Ubuntu, same issue. Finally figured out what it was:
Settings > Location and security
Disable USB Debugging mode (USB Debugging mode disabled when screen is locked. This will be compulsory when device encryption enabled.) needs to be unchecked.
I must have checked it by accident while mucking around in the menus.
