Hello! I need held! Before several weeks i rooted my HTC Desite and now i wanted to do system update but when the phone is restarting something get wrong! On the screen appear android man with triangle and i can't do anything! Can i make update when the phone is rooted is my question?? If i can make i will appreciate all your help users in this forum!

Stop trying that, if your rooted you don't use system updated unless your rom has a specific updater, like Miui.

If not you updated by simply finding what ROM you have, looking it up on XDA for the newer version and simply flashing via recovery.

As a general rule of thumb you won't need to wipe any data since its just an update.

Thank you Tyseyh! But can you give me step by step instruction what to do to FIX the problem? What to install, how to see my ROM and etc!Greetings!

No, he means a ROM Update Utility - a windows program which will wipe and unroot your phone and load a completely fresh set of software. There's information about these in the rooting FAQ (see the "all about rooting" sticky post in this forum, which is the red link in my signature). If your software is completely fouled-up, which this sounds like, that's the simplest way of getting it working again.

If your phone is GSM you can find a lot of them here (for CDMA change the model to Bravo_C, but it only has one of those). You need to identify the one that corresponds to your previous software version (and network branding, if appropriate), though many networks can use the Gingerbread one.

If you could get into your custom recovery (boot while holding "volume down" key down, highlight "recovery" and press power button) then you could flash a ROM, but if it's a red triangle with an exclamation mark you see then I think your custom recovery is gone (or did you used some real old-fashioned way of rooting and not have one in the first place?).

ROM Manager is best avoided on a Desire (there's a sticky thread about that as well), and wouldn't work unless you get boot into android in the first place (so not much help with this).

Where do you find the time?

.. and don't say on your clock etc

Hello Hadron! I really don't know how i rooted the phone or is it old method either! I have this problem like this user here shows on youtube how to repair that : Rooted (Angerbreadded) HTC Incredible S fails while updating system - YouTube !My phone is HTC Desire so i don't know! then i will try to unroot the phone! Here in this video shows that i need to re-insert the battery and everything will ok but when i do that again triangle with android man! i can find the clip on youtube which shows me how to root the phone so maybe that will help? Greetings with respect!

OK, that's not the red triangle, which is good.

If you can get into a custom recovery, as the guy in the video did, then you can flash a ROM. You need to copy it to your SD card, then flash from recovery (you can mount the SD card from recovery and copy it from a computer). If you flash a new ROM you will have to do a factory reset (wipe apps and data) first.

So if you can get into recovery that way, you can get the phone working without using an RUU.

I couldn't really see what it was that the guy in the video flashed, but remember that he had a different phone so you won't want exactly the same thing anyway. Most likely a simple rooted stock ROM, such as one of teppic74's, would get you close to what you had before.

Don't rush into this - read the FAQs on how to flash a ROM, and make sure you know what you are doing. It's fixable.

If you can't get into the recovery, then you have to use an RUU.

Thanks a lot Hadron i'm very happy that it is fixable! So to be shorter and clear :1.) I NEED TO DO FLASH ROM?
2.) If it is not working like that(FLASH ROOM) i need to use RUU?

Because I'm new to this site please send me tutorial how to do flash ROM! THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Greetings!

Basically what you need to do is this (quoting from SUroot's faq)

So (based on clockworkmod recovery):

1) download you chosen ROM onto SD card
2) Do all your backups
3) Boot into recovery manually (see recovery section earlier)
4) Choose "wipe data / factory reset"
5) Choose "Install zip from SD card"
6) Once complete, choose "reboot system now"

you can get teppic's rooted stock rom here: [ROM] [20/08] Pre-rooted Stock Gingerbread (3.14.405.1) [Optional Mods] - xda-developers

but first you ought to completely read SUroot's faq about rooting from here: http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/221212-faq-rooting-updated-11th-november-2011-a.html

Yes, reading the FAQ is important. As many times as necessary.

Unfortunately backups won't be possible if you can't boot into android, and there's no point doing a backup from recovery as that will just back up a dead ROM.

Sometimes in situations like this flashing a stock ROM without wiping first works (i.e. gets the phone running without having to wipe all apps and data), but only sometimes. So you could try copying the ROM to your card (if you haven't got a card reader you can mount the card from inside recovery and copy from a computer) and install without doing the wipe bit. But if it fails to boot after that then you'll need to go back into recovery and wipe.
