Returning the gnex: Rezound or Razr?

I have a feeling a lot of the people returning their Nexus for perceived signal issues aren't going to want to read this: AnandTech - Investigating the Galaxy Nexus LTE Signal Issue

Ninja'd!

good post. it certainly belies all the online nonsense from people that think they know what LTE signal strength is.....and yep, i believe those that returned their galaxy nexus and paid restocking fees will be kicking themselves :D

And I have a feeling that a lot of people keeping their GNex's aren't going to want to read this:

Speed test showdown: Verizon Galaxy Nexus vs Motorola DROID RAZR vs HTC Rezound

Bottom line, the GNex may have it's strengths, but a better signal isn't one of them.

...the anandtech article refutes the points made in the article you posted, namely, that the "dbm" measurements are comparing on the nexus is actual 4G dbm.

Reception seems to be on par with the Bionic and Charge.

Maybe. But the proof is in the pudding. Speed tests don't lie. They were done in the exact same location under the exact same conditions. Not only was the rezound measurably faster both down and up, it was also more consistent.

I don't understand why it's so hard for GNexer's to admit that the rezound simply had a better LTE radio.

The PhoneArena article is uninformed on the dbm measurements, but the benchmarks themselves appear to be valid.

Don't the SpeedTest people collect the test results from their thousands of users? It should be pretty easy to see trends in and between phone models.

Specifically, it has a knack to be notorious for dropping 4G LTE connectivity in almost every situation, and even worse, it can lose its connection entirely.
"dbm" aside why does it do this then? Mine does this all the time just sitting on my desk with a descent connection, then no connection. Nothing at all I have to put it in airplane mode 3 or 4 times to get the phone to reconnect. I think that too many people are trying to show there connection problem by using the "dbm", which can be wrong because of 3g and 4g and what phone is showing what. But the clinging and losing connection IS present.

I had my resound for a month and I can tell u it didn't tether anywhere near as well as my nexus . It did score higher on speed tests but my tether performance is way better on the Nexus

However the Rezound definetly had better call reception

Two complaints about the Rezound, other than that, i love it!!
Sense LAGS, my Dinc non-root is a LOT smoother! Download spare parts and a different launcher, those two combine will make a better experience, still lags though but a lot smoother than stock..
Complaint number 2 is mobile hotspot is broken BUT tether thru USB works flawlessly and fast, no problems/hiccups whatsover.
I had two Moto phones and three HTC before, HTC IMO is better.
