I'm finally within a week of my upgrade date today and everything has bumped up over $200 for upgrades. Guess I'll have to wait and get it directly from Verizon a week from today. Merry freakin' Christmas to me.

I'm in the same boat and my upgrade date is around six months before my contract ends... it's probably the same with kyler13.

Also if I did that I would lose my unlimited data plan.

Even if I could do that, I'd have to cancel my service, or port it temporarily somewhere else, and then I'd lose my unlimited data. Not to mention, I'm on a family plan with another obligated line.

Good point. On a two year contract, you're allowed to re-up with discounted device pricing at the 20 month mark, but you're still obligated to the contract for the full two years. It's not like I can leave Verizon next week.

I don't really care if I loose my unlimited plan. We all will eventually, and right now you get 4gb of data. If you are on the unlimited plan and you use that much data you can expect verizon to throttle you for the next month....in essence they are turning your data off for a month. I'm not sure you're coming out ahead on the data issue, but the price of the phone itself AND each subsequent phone is $50 or more cheaper.

Would verizon even let you port your number currently on verizon to a new contract with as a new customer...?

I know it sucks for people who haven't bought the phone yet, but in some ways them upping the price is good, right? Generally nexus phones had huge 1st week demand from techies, but then sales petered off, and this isn't happening here? Compared with Iphone lines, the backorder for the GN was minimal... hopefully this means that there is healthy demand for the phone which will ensure continued VZW support.

Hey guys,

I just had a question related to ordering the Nexus on Amazon Wireless. I went to both Amazon and Verizon sites to pick my plans to renew my contract and to see the prices of both phones, and Amazon was cheaper. I noticed though that the text/picture messaging plan is different on both, and i get a better overall plan through Verizon's site. (450 text vs 1000 text)

What i want to know is..would i be able to go on the Verizon site after i make a purchase on Amazon with the plans i have picked out through them, and still switch my minutes/text options on the Verizon site, or will i be fixed with that exact plan that i have through Amazon? The total cost monthly of the Amazon plan pricing is $10 more than what was calculated on Verizon's website. I don't know why the plans aren't exactly the same, but that's how it is for me. Has anyone that have renewed through Amazon able to switch minutes/text plans through Verizon or any other carriers site afterwards? This is the only thing holding me back from making the purchase right now.

I missed the $150 price but I noticed I don't see the $35 activation fee listed when you put it in your cart now. The activation fee was there before when it was $150 but it's not there now at $190.
